The game lasts only 2 Hours, and it costs 20$/€ - but it can totally be worth the money if the horror part is great. So, it is; do the jump scares "make" the horror or do the atmosphere "make" the horror? Thx
I had the same experience with Yearwalk : they find an interesting concept, they find a good artist, and then, let's fall asleep.
Being a baby and visiting a house is funny for 5 minutes.
Moreover when one of the only items available turns into an unmovable barrage...

Even with passive gameplay most still have nonsense convoluted stories
agree as annoye as hell also. I like guy who has now 2,4 m subs in last 2 years lot more and he wont be force fun as pews..
There's offending someone's YouTube star and then there's just blatantly unnecessary aggression towards someone he has never met. No one deserves to die for making videos.
Pretty much. There's no point in wishing someone is dead. Although he would be close to that if I ever was forced to watch his videos.

I agree. I'm a super fan of the amnesia series and games that rely more on invoking panic, fear and creepyness than the big spooks.
We do have a few of them and the biggest one is the one at the beginning of the game after you exit the kitchen. It is there to get people to sit at the edge of their seat. A concious game design choice to get people to always expect something to happen. The cave level is pretty boring in my opinion, but if you are always expecting something to happen it fills people with fear.
The fear will die down up until you hit the "right wing" part of the forest level, where you meet the "hyda" monster and the fear of monsters will hit you. We don't do any cheap scares after that point.
We didn't really see the true effect of this until we watched lets plays of it after launch. In my opinion it was a success and it wasn't something that we used everywhere. Compared to many of bad"spooky skelly" games out there.
Would the game be the same if we didn't have that extreme jump scare at the beginning? I think it would just be a long boring build up though. What do I know I'm just a programmer ^^
