Autosave Issue

I was just done with the Foresthouse area/chapter where you have to collect the puzzle pieces to proceed when I had to stop playing due to life being a thing. The game said "Saving..." after I did something, but before proceeding to the next area, so I figured it was safe to exit the game. Apparently not. When I select continue story, it puts me at the start of the ENTIRE chapter, as if I had collected none of the jigsaw pieces. Frankly, that's completely unacceptable. I should not have to replay an entire chapter because "Saving" doesn't actually mean your game is being saved.

Krillbite, you seriously need to fix this, so saving actually saves your game. Doesn't matter if it's a short game.

Looks like I'm forced to use the dev console to skip ahead.

This actually helped me. I was wondering if that meant your whole section saved but now i know.

Yeah. It doesn't "hard save" until it's a completely new chapter. Not part 2 of the same chapter, but actually the first environment of a new chapter. The soft autosaving you see I think is just so if you die, it can revive you with the same amount of progress. My best advice would be to try playing the game in one sitting (about 3 hours), something I can't/couldn't do because life and the camera wobble when you walk or crawl gives me motion sickness.

I also find this extremely pathetic, especially considering it's not even a short section. I've had to replay this chapter 5 times now because like you say.... life happens. This was even enough reason for me to stop playing the game for around 5-6 months out off frustration. Why say saving numerous times throughout the level when you aren't? It's a checkpoint! Just say checkpoint reached like all other, decent developers would do!

I've had the same issue in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ final chapter. I just can't. I'm not replaying this one more time. I'm just done.

I love how this topic is over a year old and no response from the devs. Definitely never buying another one of their games.

Same complaint. How freaking complicated can it be to add saving points??? DEVS, SHAME ON YOU!!!
Like many others, I'll likely put the game away for a while. I can only play ten minutes a day and sometimes (most of the time) it's not enough to finish a chapter.

I have a solution !!

Ran into that save bug but sorted out. If you edit the profile file (profile.json) you can continue from your checkpoint. Just run the game and start a session from any state, Press ESC.. then edit the file: (I wanted to start from Level03LibraryStart because that was the last reached checkpoint according to the list)

I had to edit the
lastCompletedMainLevel from "LevelHub" to "Level03"
and
CurrentCheckpoint from "None" to "Level03LibraryStart"

When finished editing, save it, than ALT+TAB back to game and Load from Last Ceckpoint.
It will load it.

Don't forget to BACKUP the profile file for safety reasons.

Sounds complicated but not a big thing.
