There are usually at least a few other people on at any given time and some more that are lurking that only show themselves when they see someone joining a server they may be interested in. That being said, while I was specifically checking, there seemed to be a slow but steady increase in players online at any given time over the last several years. A few years ago, there may have been 17 people on at low times and now I am not surprised when I see 30 or more people in just one server.

If it's any consideration, there's Blockland Rebuilt, a free game (provided you have the Steam release or an official copy) that's a reverse-engineered version of this game. Basically combines the best of some of the previous versions whilst adding its own improvements. For example, having maps from the older versions whilst still having shaders from the newer versions. Things like that. There's even a GitHub issue board where you can check some stuff and post issues and suggestions, the actual repo for the game itself is private unfortunately. It'd be certainly nice to see all the commits and everything.

The only problem with something like this, and I'm sure this'll be the same with Brickadia, is that the Blockland community has been dwindling as it is, and having these extra things like Rebuilt and Brickadia will split the community off and make it smaller still.

When's the last time you played a b4v21 server with anyone else?

Not that long ago but only with a couple folks in the Discord server. But that kinda goes with what I was saying how having the retail version and rebuilt version means you're further splitting off what small community we already have left further into two or more separate communities.

Long story short...no. The game is taking its eternal rest (practically dead now). I grew up with this game, and it's sad to see where it ended up after all this time. Blockland was ahead of its time, but died out quickly due to sorry neglect from the devs. The game's multiplayer population on average is usually no more than 15 online at 1 time, half of which gatekeep the game by kicking/banning on sight just because you exist. The offline population isn't much better, probably 30 to 50 people actively playing at most.

There is a new continuation of this game called Brickadia...but we don't talk about that here given what all happened up to this point. If you wanna know, just look it up.

I see. Your perspective in terms of b4v21 being empty wasn't completely captured by what you said. We agree splintering the community like that is a stupid idea.

It's too bad with all the autism-hours spent on getting b4v21/rebuilt together that we didn't have something workable with v21 that we could use in a compatible way so as to remove as much friction as possible. "Switching" between games would not even be really switching.

Brickadia is nowhere near a "continuation" of Blockland without any decent mod system. Otherwise it's just a building game which is only part of what Blockland is.
