If you haven't touched the game since before the Steam release, then you may not know that now you have to play multiplayer through Steam and some Add-Ons don't work correctly anymore.
I haven't really checked any recent YouTube Blockland videos, but I did find some Jurassic Block or something like that videos that some people had made in Blockland. I don't know if they would have been before or after your time, but they were like little movies.
What all counts as community happenings? In December, a bunch of players got together to work on a Christmas Block Party, does that count? That may just be normal game playing... I think it may count as recently that Conan hosted a farming server and that was kind of a big deal since it was asked for a lot prior to that. I don't know if that counts as a community happening...
