The cards were Strength, The Tower, and 10 of Swords

Strength represents strength, and The Tower represents change in a "what you have become complacent on is changing" sort of way. The 10 of swords is probbably going to have the most plot significance/foreshadowing seeing as how so much emphasis was placed on it, and it's description is really interesting

All they that take the sword, it has been said, shall perish with the sword, and the Ten of Swords is a card that show us the real-life implications of this proverb. This is the ultimate manifestation of the Swords suit and its negative, destructive power. Even though only one sword would be needed to kill this man, ten were used: he has not simply been killed, but annihilated. The Ace of Swords was a warning about using excessive force for evil purposes and the Ten is the inevitable result of that abuse of power. Those who refuse to listen to the wisdom of the Swords will eventually be impaled on them.

Tarot cards can have a lot of different meanings. The more possible meanings the better, as Tarot is obviously nothing but hoax.. but anyway generally you could summarize:

Strength; inner strength, compassion, discipline, control

The Tower: danger, crisis, destruction, change, ruin, hard times

10 of swords: absolute destruction, hopelessness, defeat, betrayal
