Yes but that would be a very old forum post which is based only on the first epiosde. The theory doesn't really account for any other possibilty.

In universe the popularity theory is contested and popular Fables can still die regardless of how popular they are. Second, Fables are never shown to actually have anything to do with the publication of their stories or their circulation. There is only a single instance of this in the comics and even it isn't actually using stories he wrote.
