Game crashes when playing multiplayer/An unknown exception has occurred

Whenever i'm playing online, and when i get to the part where we select a character, it says "An unknown exception has occured." This may sound familiar.
The person who joins me experiences the glitch.
The same happens if i join someone.
I have windows 10, with a dell laptop and an intel graphics card.
Sometimes it doesn't happen, sometimes it does.
