We are super happy with how well Cactus has been received by players though and I'd love to follow it up with something that keeps that good will.
Say it ain't so. I'm in love with this game.
Lets call it a cult classic :)
Aside from the sales side though, my biggest concern with doing a sequel would be accomplishing the same goals we set out to do with Cactus itself: Bring something of unique value, like we believe Cactus does. Studios like Treasure are sort of my inspiration, they always brought something new to their games.
If we're ever able to make it viable though I'd love to continue the world of Cactus!
Granted the sales weren't to the development huose's liking, I'd like to ask, why did the game not reach sales expectations even with the the ridiculously high review evaluation given by the Steam user community? This is one of the rare games on Steam that have achieved "Overwhelmingly Positive" status by the community.
You can probably believe we get asked this (and ask ourselves) a lot, and after a point it becomes depressing to revisit, since it generally boils down to what-if's or defending our marketing, which I still think was the best we could do given our time, knowledge and budget.
Instead I take pride in the game existing at all, and that it found an audience. If you enjoyed Cactus, or better yet discovered a game you love in Cactus, it means it's something that's loved by both its creators and players, which is pretty cool.
So Cactus collectable card game when?
