Will a acer nitro 5 gaming laptop run overgrowth smooth?
This is someone else's question. Continuing the thread from here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/25000/discussions/0/2521353993638822562/?ctp=4#c1643164649210291462

That’s the thing tho. I can’t find the passmark rating for my laptop. It didn’t show up.

The passmark rating is for the components in the computer, not the whole computer. Find out which model of GPU is in it and which model of CPU is in it, and look those up.

Ok and also I am looking for the components not the laptop itself

I found the website for this computer, but I don't know which specific model you are thinking about getting: https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/models/laptops/nitro5

The absolute cheapest one I see on that page ($650-ish) looks like it's exactly hitting the "recommended spec" I talk about in the guide I wrote.

For reference, I recommend at least a 4000 passmark rating for the GPU, and at least a 7000 passmark rating for the CPU. TBH, I'd probably get something higher than that today if I could. I wrote the guide two years ago, and games become more demanding every year.

From this page, for the absolute cheapest "Nitro 5" computer on their list ($650-ish) - https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NH.Q4TAA.001

The CPU is: Ryzen 5 2500U - https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+5+2500U&id=3123 (7339 passmark)
The GPU is: AMD Radeon RX 560X - https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=RX+560X&id=4052 (3553 passmark)

That cheapest one will probably run this game somewhat smoothly with medium graphics settings. That computer probably won't be super future-proof, so in 3-4 years you won't be able to play the latest games that come out. As I said in my guide, this GPU and CPU are roughly the *bare minimum* spec for a game like Battlefield One (or possibly a tad below it).

If you get one of the more expensive versions of that computer then it will probably last you longer as a gaming machine.

Their most expensive one on that list is here ($1000-ish): https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/NH.Q3YAA.003

The CPU is: Intel Core i7 i7-8750H - https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-8750H+%40+2.20GHz&id=3237 (12481 passmark)
The GPU is: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti - https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+1050+Ti (6022 passmark)

The CPU in that machine is good, but if I were paying that much for a computer ($1000), I'd personally try to find a computer with at least a GeForce 1060 (9095 passmark rating).

Here's a guide that lists budget gaming laptops. At least a couple of them have a GeForce 1060: https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/sub-1000-gaming-laptops

If price is a big concern, desktop gaming computers are much cheaper than laptop gaming computers.

FYI the recommended specs link, again:

No. As I said in the other thread:

And with that I think I am going to peace out. You're really not listening to or understanding anything I'm saying, so I feel like I've wasted my time. I'm also not going to sign off on whichever computer you decide to buy.

That said, here's some communities that might be more help if you really want someone else to tell you how to buy a computer:

The acer nitro five that I saw at Best Buy has cpu rating of 9751 and the gpu is 4706
what would be the recommended settings for these? This is the last message I’m sending

We're indie devs, and don't have a giant computer lab to test on. That means we don't have a big spreadsheet with a set of settings for every combo of hardware. There's thousands of such combinations, which is why it's complicated.

You'll have to tweak and test settings to find the right ones. With a computer like that, I suspect you'll have the smoothest experience playing on medium-ish settings, possibly with some effects disabled.

Guide on how to pick your settings is here:
