You get a little bit more through the scrolls of fate system but honestly, hiding more interactivity behind an upgrade where I have to chose between buffs and if I want to do something besides resurrecting, doesn't feel that good



After 20min of game time

I give this a thumbs-down with a heavy heart.
The basic idea is very good. A lady-lich/necromancer starts out with a couple of zombies and every enemy these minions kill can be resurrected to fight for you.
Good idea but it needs a lot more fine tuning. Here are some things that I thought were not so great
The lady-lich can't do anything by herself except resurrect. I get it, that's the idea, but maybe she could have a permanent minion that can defeat at least lone peasants or a melee attack that she only uses when she doesn't have any minions. You can't even move (initially) while resurrecting your minions. Once you lose your last minion all the enemies on even rush you because the game knows that there is no coming back from having no minions. It just makes it very grindy and samey.
No randomization - the same special waves of enemies attack at exactly the same time, every run
Confusion about the story - you get thrown into the game -which I like - but then the lich starts adressing the player as her minion that follows her orders - this is confusing because she is there during every run, seemingly commanding this horde, but then who is the player in this story? I get that this is still Early Access but that doesn't make it any less confusing.
The backgrounds are very basic, sure there are things like bushes which wither upon contact but you are still walking along a green field the entire time.

Sadly like this I can't recommend the game. I am hoping the Devs improve it and if that happens, I'll glady change my review to a recommend.

BEWARE: This is Summoner style Survivor-LITE game, but not really, because it has:
- No Health bars - you need to watch textures to guess how hurt you or enemies are
- No levels
- No experience
- No power up, RNG or choices during battle ...


There are so many problems beside those above:
- 1 button game = SPACE, that is not rebindable. My left thumb is already tired and unhappy...
- Minion AI
- - Attack only on specific side where you summoned them
- - Getting killed from left? TOO BAD, your minions on right will let you die.

Looks like Realms of Magic developers decided to jump on Survivors train 1-2 years late.

This game has so much potential, but the lack of anything to actually do or agency to influence your minions kills this for me. You'll spend most of your time slowly moving around, building up your army and just waiting for the small waves to come at certain checkpoints. It is almost completely up to chance if you can position your army to defend you against these waves.

For example: If a large wave comes at me from the top right and I move to the bottom left to avoid it and try and maneuver my army to block me with more bodies, they all move in unison with me, so if the wave cuts through that section of my army, they're attacking me directly and I have no way of defending myself, except to try and run and hope that the rest of my army will reform around me fast enough to help (they won't). So first I would wish that the Dev game some kind of mouse control for our army.

Second problem is that the beginning is too slow. It takes too long to build up your army. I'd recommend the Devs cut the life of all enemies and minions in half, just to get to the point of the game a little quicker. Controling a mass horde of the undead!

Very little to do in the game, even with all upgrades (that are not that good). After 1-2 hours you'll have it all and seen it all. Little to no control of the minions does not help the lack luster game play and its snails pace. I do not recommend this game when there are much better and cheaper games out there.

I will say this: I love the concept. A necromancer summoning a horde to defeat more hordes and raise them into your growing army.

Having said that, I just can't recommend the game in its current state. There's just not much here. The obvious comparison, to Vampire Survivors, maybe isn't fair, because that game has been out for years at this point and has had a ton of content updates, but even that title, pre-launch, had a lot more going on than this game does.

I am more than willing to revisit this review if the devs flesh things out more (no pun intended), and add a significant amount of content. More levels, maybe alternate characters with different perks, add items or relics, more unlockable abilities, and preferably ones that feel more significant.

One mechanic of this game that I do really like is the "zoom out" as your army builds. The camera starts out tightly focused on your avatar, and as you add to your horde, it zooms out further so you can see it all at once. Also, the music becomes more intense as things get busier on screen, though it isn't particularly inspiring, and it's just the same loop, but it didn't get annoying while I was playing.

The game closes on you when you refuse to post a review, which is very annoying, so here's your (negative) review. I would have recommended this game otherwise.

Not much replay-ability once you win.
Perma-upgrades are pretty limited right now.

Art is nice, as is the voice acting.

Decent game for this price but currently it lacks variety that's crucial for this type of genre.
What I would like to see is simple:

-Make runs more unpredictable more enemy variants for example range units, mages, RNG based hordes.
-Boss fights add some sort of special heroes units that would be also randomized.
-Some active spells that would help us get advantage instead of random melee fighting (frustrating to navigate).
-Map variety and usable objects that would give us free buffs etc.

Theme is nice but it needs more chaos and replay value to be fun.
I might be asking for a lot but reversed "Death Must Die" comes to my mind.

So I've played for an hour, and frankly, I'm quite bored with this.

The engagement factor isn't there, move to a group, hold space bar, move to a group, hold space bar. If you could control where your minions go, push them out away from you, or to at least swell to a side to engulf better. Otherwise this game has very little variety, and the talents aren't exciting, there's no visual impact. The death circle is a big culprit of this, I can't tell if it's doing anything at all, how close I have to be. At no point was I like whoa, this is an upgrade, and the upgrades in base, health, regen, more starting minions, all of it is extremely passive play.

I thought this would be much cooler, but there's better choice out there, even in the very specific niche of necromancer horde games. I would recommend checking out Necrosmith, developers too could learn a thing or two from that.

Eh it dosen't offer much replayability. maybe later when there is more content will i change the reveiw to a positive.

I can't recommend this game in its current state, nor for the vision the developer has communicated.

Whilst it looks like a vampire survivors clone, what we instead get is a slow and frustrating time sink with little variety. You begin by summoning a few minions which you then walk into groups of enemies and hope that they engage in combat. The most effective method seems to be just bulldozing through the biggest group you think your minions can take on and hope that they occasionally attack the enemy combatants. That's about all there is to it.

There are powerups, however they have little effect on the gameplay and are extremely RNG dependent. Best powerup seems to be one that spawns priest enemies, however I've had some games where 3 or 4 spawn near the starting point and others where not a single one was sighted at all in 20 minutes.

The developer has noted a few times that the plan for this game is to have only a single summon button and for it to remain simple. I'd say it should have zero buttons if they're going down that path and just have a revive aura to save either holding down or spamming that single button. Aside from that, I just don't see the simplistic gameplay vision as being able to be anything more than a mild distraction.

I applaud the developers for their choice to price the game cheaply, however even at the current price, I cannot recommend this product. The game needs a substantial improvement to the gameplay loop and a significant improvement to the minion AI before I could consider recommending it.
