Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Question: How to reduce mouse sensitivity below Low?
How do you reduce the camera movement to a speed below what Low offers? Also can the FOV be changed?

If the mouse speed can be fixed that would be greatly appreciated, it is extremely stupid of them to get rid of the fine granular control over mouse sensitivity that ME1 had.

I also notice that the popups for things like credits and XP that you get are very very brief, it was bad enough in ME1 and in this there's no chance for me to read any of them.

Ok, so I've fixed this issue by doing this; but first make a backup/copy of the original coalesced.ini file; downloaded notepad++, found the file called the coalesced.ini file, right-click>edit with notepad++ and then ctrl+f search for mousesensitivity; it should be at 1.0, i just changed that to 0.4 and now it is awesome... :thumbspoop:

you could try changing your systems mouse settings, if you lower that it should lower in game too.

I found the answer to the mouse sensitivity issue on the Bioware forum. Just had to modify a game configuration file. It's still not exactly the same as setting it to 30 in ME1 but it is close enough to be a non-issue.

Which file?

It's been over 3 years, you think I'd remember? o_O one of the config files generated in My Documents.

and they turned off the ME forums so can't really find an answer to that, gg

yeah, Bioware turned off all their forums so there goes thousands of solutions discovered by users for Bioware products (hooray!).

lol this is unbelievable, what a hilarious thread. "Nicholas Steel" asks a question that he himself finds out the answer to with some internet searching, however, he does not post the solution (which I'm assuming, would have been an easy copy and paste sort of thing).

Three years later, someone asks what file has to be modified, because, obviously, if someone knows the answer to something, they should be, well, able to answer it.

Instead, though, the original person who discovered the solution to the problem counters with "it has been three years, how could I possibly remember?"

Could you imagine that being an actual defense to not remembering something? lol

I figured the Bioware forum wouldn't close down so there was no reason to duplicate the information. Can you remember how you modded a game 3 years ago?

You can use Notepad++ or a Coalesced editor to to modify the game's Coalesced.ini file. Do NOT use the standard Notepad program included with Windows, it will corrupt the file and prevent the game from starting.

Coalesced.ini is found in this location:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect 2\BioGame\Config\PC\Cooked

Find this line and change it to the desired value.
MouseSensitivity=1.0

Please note that you must keep the exact same amount of characters, otherwise the game will not start. For example, something as simple and non-intrusive as keeping the value the same but adding another zero will NOT work:
MouseSensitivity=1.00

Make sure to back up a copy of the file in case you mess up. Otherwise, if something bad happens, you can restore the file by revalidating the game files in your Steam library.

I use ME2IniFixer.exe. Basically the program will convert the Coalesced file to a plain text format and you can edit it with Notepad++, once you have saved your changes you can use the same progam to convert your changes back in to the Coalesced format.

I forget which copy I have, they both seem to be identicle:

http://social.bioware.com/project/4005/

Oh wait, this is Mas Effect 2 right? So the file is already in plain text format, that means the program actually just auto-corrects common mistakes when editing the file. In ME3 they use a binary file for the configuration and there are tools that do what I describe in the first paragraph.

People like you should not be allowed to talk in forums, or use the internet at all for that matter.

"I found the solution" but doesn't even care to share.. Wow. How narcissistic can one possibly be. You think we all click on this topic just for a good read? Then you have the nerve to snap at someone who asks what the solution was.

You remind me of those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ who make a forum post, asking a question, then write "Nevermind figured it out" and don't feel the need to share the solution.

People liek you need to just walk into the ocean and keep swimming until u dissapear into the sunset

You (RandalMcdaniel) are the one being a nasty ♥♥♥♥♥ sir, please bugger off from my topic if you have nothing nice to say. I already explained where to focus ones efforts and than many YEARS later apologized for failing to duplicate the information here due to a lack of foresight of a major companies forums being deleted from existence.

In HINDSIGHT I should have duplicated the info. Maybe I should take your advice and refuse to offer help to those that seek it in the future to avoid you ♥♥♥♥'s that pick on me for things I couldn't predict?
