Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Mass Effect 3 worst import
Huge spoilers ahead for Mass Effect 2:

So I've beaten 2 many times before with the best ending, in which all 12 squadmates survive and are loyal. Right now I am trying to play a game where I have the worst possible outcome that can be imported into Mass Effect 3.

My goal is to have only a single squadmate survive the mission to pull Shepherd in at the end. I plan to make only 1 squadmate loyal, and have them escort the crew to the ship. This will ensure their survival, while I try to kill off every other character. I could also save the one loyal character by taking them in my squad at the end.

Has anyone ever tried this before? If so, I would appreciate any tips. Which character did you save? I plan to save Zaeed or Kasumi as they have a pretty small impact in 3.

Save Thane, you cant even use him ME3. Or maybe Miranda. Kasumi and Zaeed will probably good too.

This is a pretty interesting idea. i wonder how the game is if you dont ahve any squad mates to recruit
It can be damn hard to engineer this 0_0. I'm sure there's a walkthrough..somewhere..for this.

**SPOILERS FOR ME3**

Well, I know what happens for each character being dead. Here goes.

Virmire Death - Brings on Virmire Survivor story, Kaidan can become m/m romance option while Ashley cannot become f/f so don't try.
Virmire Survivor - Can't die after Virmire so appears in ME3 and is recruitable as an option. Optional for Citadel DLC.
Wrex - Replaced by Wreav, who is more easily tricked by a genophage cure sabotage and shows a more negative potential for the krogan. Optional for Citadel DLC.
Garrus - Isn't present in his intro level (Palaven's Moon). Optional for Citadel DLC.
Tali - Major. Her role is replaced by Xen or Shala'ran in scenes I think, and you're allowed to bring both squadmates you want during missions which otherwise force Tali in. Blocks off potential for peace between Geth and Quarians. Optional for Citadel DLC.
Liara - Can't die and is a forced recruitment. Mandatory for Citadel DLC.

Miranda - Doesn't appear for a few convos, and doesn't appear in Sanctuary, resulting possibly in her sister's death? (not sure) Optional for Citadel DLC.
Jacob - Doesn't appear in the Cerberus Scientists level, but it isn't affected otherwise. Optional for Citadel DLC.
Mordin - Replaced by Padok Wiks, whose only difference is that he can't be persuaded to walk away from the tower (whereas Mordin can, if you destroyed Maelon's data!). Padok must die somehow. Mordin plays slight role in Citadel DLC.
Grunt - Doesn't appear in Rachni Planet mission, and his replacement Dagg always dies. Optional for Citadel DLC.
Jack - Doesn't appear in Grissom Academy mission, and is replaced by that one student, who always dies. Optional for Citadel DLC.
Thane - Doesn't appear in Citadel Coup mission, and is replaced by Captain Kirrahe, or no one and the Councillor just dies. Optional content in Citadel DLC.
Samara - Doesn't appear in Asari Monastery mission, and is semi-replaced by her daughter, who can live or die really, but you won't get a happier result. Optional for Citadel DLC.
--> Morinth - If she was on your team in ME2 and died in SM, it doesn't specifically matter. She only has an email or two, and you can see a named Banshee on London called Morinth, if she survived ME2 anyway. It's more about losing Samara content.
Legion - If he died on SM, he is replaced by GethVI, a 'recording' copy of his past state. Without him, Rannoch peace is impossible, as GethVI is not trusting of organics. No content on Citadel DLC too.
Zaeed - Worse results on a sidemission. Optional for Citadel DLC.
Kasumi - Worse results on a sidemission. Optional for Citadel DLC.

-For most characters, them dying in ME1-2 means they don't appear in the London FOB or its QEC conversations. They need to survive til the end for that. You can game it all so there's no one to talk to :((( (including Steve)
-I'm normally not counting some convos you can have on the Citadel and some emails, but they exist too, and can be omitted if the character died in ME2.
-Several ME2 characters can join in the Citadel DLC battle simulator. So if you wanted your Kasumi + Thane team back, there you go! ...just for the sim though. ;)

New characters for ME3 are of course EDI (forced), James (forced), and Javik (optional DLC). You can play a game with only EDI, James, and Liara - as Garrus, Tali, and Kaidan/Ashley can be dead, and Javik is optional.

And then you can make the Low EMS beam run with James and Liara, and see them apparently die. And then pick Destroy and EDI apparently dies off screen. So I guess Samantha or Steve (if romanced him?) say goodbyes to you in Extended Cut.

**MOAR SPOILERAGE**

The main thing is that without the ME2 character being around and especially Loyal, you're gonna get 'worse' results during specific missions of ME3.

But ones that are more important to the core story would be Wrex (kinda, as Cure is still possible), Mordin (kinda, as Cure is still possible), Thane (kinda, as he can still be saved by Kirrahe), Tali, Legion, and Miranda (kinda, just because its on the main storyline).

Grunt, Jack,

~~~
If you do things 'right', you can have a large party in Citadel DLC including:
-Steve
-Samantha (no Chakwas or ship Engineers for some reason :(()
-Joker
-EDI
-VirmireSurvivor (Kaidan or Ashley)
-Wrex
-Garrus
-Tali
-Liara
-Miranda
-Jacob
-Jack
-Samara
-Grunt
-Zaeed
-Kasumi
-James
-Javik
Wow 19 people (including Shep)!
But not:
-Virmire Death (duh, but there are rememberances)
-Mordin (though he sends recording maybe)
-Thane (though he has recording maybe)
-Legion (forced death, and strangely maybe not even a mention?)
~~~

If you do things 'wrong', your party is dropped down to:
-Steve
-Samantha (I think)
-Joker
-EDI
-Liara
-James

As everyone else is dead or occupied (like Miranda), or Javik DLC :(

If you don't have enough loyal squadmates at the end of ME2, Shepard misses the jump for the Normandy and dies. I think you need a minimum of two loyal squadmates to survive the assault on the collector base.

You sure about loyal (really)? I was under the impression they just need to be alive, but I could be wrong. Yeah, I might be :)
I'm pretty sure you only need one member to survive in order for Shepard to not die. It's very hard to get everyone to die if you recruit the optional characters. I would forgo both Kasumi and Zaeed if you plan on having everyone die except one. I tried it once, and that was my mistake, taking Kasumi and Zaeed because I had people left over when I tried to get Shepard killed. I'm not sure if it's necessary, but I think it's safer to avoid them altogether.

Hmmm.

Could it be considered worse to save Jack in ME2, but then let the Academy fall so she becomes an enemy?

(likewise, give Legion to Cerberus?)
Ultima modifica da Sentient_Toaster; 10 gen 2014, ore 17:02
It's kinda boring.

For either, they just appear as named enemies in Cronos Station. That's about it.
I was thinking about how this could be achieved, but for my bad playthru of ME3 I must admit I just used Gibs save editor to modify an ME2 renegade save of mine in which everyone was dead.

Thinking about it from ME1 on:
ME1:
- Recruit Wrex, don't recruit Garrus
- Have Wrex killed on Virmire
- Save Ash or Kaiden
- Finish ME1 with 3 Squadmates only (Liara, Tali, Ash/Kaiden)
- Kill colonists on Feros
- Don't do side-missions on Virmire so Kirrahe dies.

ME2:
Recruit the bare minimum of companions
Jettison/Ignore/Sell Grunt and Legion
Only do Kasumi's loyalty mission
Zaeed can be killed/abandoned on his own loyalty mission IIRC (after Collector Base)
Leaving the rescue mission as late as possible should kill most/all the crew (I suspect Chakwas always lives. The only way to kill her is to send her to Normandy unescorted)
Don't upgrade Normandy
Pick wrong people for roles on suicide run. Send Kasumi back to ship.

I think that will result in all but Kasumi/Shepard dying. ME3 would then only offer EDI, James, Liara, Ash/Kaiden (who can be shot in ME3 during confrontation with Udina). Ignoring Javik mission obviously. Leaving Grissom Academy mission late should get Kahlee Sanders killed. Not disarming Turian bomb will kill Eve. Not talking to Steve results in him dying in the crash. Destroy ending kills EDI.

Sadly there's little impact to the story, if any. While picking party members will obviously be restricted, in story terms almost everyone has a direct stand-in. Only difference I can think of is that it may not be possible to have peace between Geth/Quarians (I may be wrong there).

An alternative to the ME2 suggestion above is to ignore Kasumi outright, and instead do Jack's loyalty mission and send her back to the Normandy so she survives. Then by postponing the Grissom Academy mission, she'll be a Phantom by the time the player arrives.

Another alternative is to save Mordin in ME2, destroying Maelon's data (which will result in Eve dying) and shoot him in ME3.

Miranda and Samara can both die in ME3 as well if they survived ME2.
