Getting to know legion

Hey all.
Something about mas Effect 2 has bugged me for a long time. After having Legion join my squad after going to the Derelict Reaper, you are told you must wait awhile before you the thinga majig is installed. Basically during that time, you do Legion's loyalty mission. After that, its installed, yadda yadda, every body si kidnapped by collectors.
Now on to the thing that is bugging me. You have to go after the Collectors right after that to save your crew, kelly Chambers, Engineers and such.
yet, to get to know Legion- at least in my experiance- you need to complete missions in order to open up new dialogue from Legion.
Now to my question:
How can I get to know Legion, and still be able to save my entire crew?

You mean that how to finish Legion's loyality mission and save the crew? Just don't rush upon IFF Reaper mission, where you first time meet Legion. Finish everything else or leave one mission where you wanna bring Legion and then go for Reaper's IFF, then you can finish Legion's loyality mission and go straight for saving crew once IFF is installed on Normandy.

Yes I know that.
My problem is that in my experiance, you need to complete missions, in order to unlock additional dialogue for Legion. For example:
I talk to him, he says:"Hello"
Then when I talk to him, he says he needs to reach a consensus.
I go doa mission.
I talk to Legion.
he says:"How are you?"
I can't get to the "How are you" part, because then my crew dies. I want to know how to get past that Dialogue barrier

I think he says nothing in private talk with Shepard after you activate him and do loyalty mission, of course. Do you have Arrival DLC? Try to finish it after Suicide mission and maybe Legion will share his thought with you :D

No I don't. Hmm, something to think about. Leave some of the missions till after so that I can get to know Legion. Good idea, thanks

An interesting route:

1)Legion's Recruitment
2)Tali's Loyalty (Bring Legion for lols and socializing!)
3)Legion's Loyalty (Maybe bring Tali!)
4)Resolve Tali/Legion conflict and try to get all convos from Legion
5)Suicide Mission

By going this way, you actually do things perfectly so that the whole crew still survives.

Maybe you're looking for something else though?

Well, interesting. Didn't realize you could do two missions before the collectors decide to take al your crew members.
But again, not quite what I am looking for.
let me try to explain again.
With Jacob Taylor for example. You have a limited amount of dialogue that you can hear from Jacob, befor you have to go on a mission to unlock more. WHen you have finished the dialogue you have unlocked, he says something along the lines of:"Already? I'm not one for forcing this Shepard."
And when I have unlocked all of his dialogue options, he says something along the lines of:"I'm good Shepard. WHen this is over, we'll get loud and party hard."
What I want to know, is how to get to that final dialogue option from Legion. Understand?

Legion is not that kind of character like "Waddup dawg, how ya doing?". I'm not sure there are addiotional dialogs with him while on Normandy... But good luck if you find out new dialogs with him.

You have space to do one other mission if you do it just between the Derelict Reaper and Legion's Loyalty, so Tali's Loyalty there could be anyones'.

Legion doesn't have a whole lot, I believe. At least a whole lot that you can do normally and safely. He may have more to say (compared to other characters) after the suicide mission, or if you decide to take 'too long' saving the crew.

UPDATE: Just did a quick search and it seems that Legion has 5 dialogue sets and you can get them all by doing the Recruitment+Loyalty+Loyalty+Suicide Mission+Other Missions.

Since N7 missions do not count for anything beyond a bit of extra events and rewards (nothing from them imports to ME3), I'd leave some of them behind and do those after the Suicide Mission and check Legion between that.

To encourage a sense of pacing though, I'd leave Arrival and maybe the Lair of the Shadow Broker missions for post game, as I believe they count as a mission! (Timeline wise, LOTSB would be first and Arrival is last, even though Bioware lets us play Arrival very early)

I am replaying the whole series again. Thought I'd be a female shepard this time. (A lesbian one, as I am still a dude. Feels weird romancing a dude. Pity Tali isn't interested in girls)

Hah, I played for female Shepard and the whole trilogy was like best ever thing I even played/watched/read/etc. My femshep was supposed to romance Kaiden even if it was weird to me, but I killed him in mission on Virmire. I thought a man can be trusted to do important mission (set the chargers and defend them) so, lol, actually it was fatal for him. In ME 2 I wanted to romance Kelly, but somehow finished up on Jacob. But he's black skinned, so it could look not good for reputation of Commander Shepard, haha, if you know what I mean. Strange logic, but anyway :D Glad devs gave option to choose love interest before Suicide mission. So I chose Garrus, interspecies relationship between species who were in war not that much time ago. In ME 3 I thought there will be like all crew available to be more than just friends, lol. With that list whom you can invite to your captain's apartments. But I invited first Treynor and then... then there was no chances to break up relations, haha. I thought James Vega will be available for romance to femshep, but he's like your protege, like Commander Shepard to Captain Anderson, so.

Yeah, Tali and all quarians seems like normal humans in ME universe, just they made big mistake with geth.


P.S. Never heard the voice of male Shepard until I watched YT video and glad that I did not start to play for male Shepard, otherwise I did not enjoy Mass Effect that good... same as in KoTOR 1-2, back in 2004/2005 I played for male characters and then when KoTOR released on iPad I decided to play for female character, the whole game felt like you play other game (in good term). That's why I like Bioware.

Nope. Its the mix of the Child, Male Shepard, and Female Shepard all at once :).
