Suicide Mission Solution
I noticed in a few blog pages and other forums besides this one that there are players struggling to make sure that all of Commander Shepard's team members (Garrus, Tali, Miranda, Thane, and so forth) survive. Otherwise, a character keeps dying in the end, much to their annoyance. The first time I played the suicide mission, I lost Jack. The second time was when I lost Mordin, which I was strongly against considering he plays a crucial role in curing the genophage in Mass Effect 3 if you save Maelon's research. I finally came across a page that showed me how to save everyone in the suicide mission, but here's the solution that I had done:

1.) Make sure you have enough Paragon points. I don't know if that's relevant, but that's there anyway.
2.) Make sure all twelve crew members (if you have Zaeed and Kasumi) are loyal after completing their side missions.
3.) Have Garrus lead the first firing team while Tali goes into the vents. Meanwhile, I bring Miranda and Zaeed with me.
4.) Have Jacob be the escort for the captured crew members while Miranda leads the second firing team. She will get shot, but she will not die. Meanwhile, after you select Samara to summon the biotic shield, I bring Garrus and Legion with me.
5.) And finally, everyone's last stand. I bring Miranda and Thane with me to go up against the Reaper. Afterwards, you get a transmission from Joker saying that all survivors are accounted for. In case you ask, yes. It does matter who you bring.

You forgot to mention that you need most of the ship upgrades to ensure everyone survives, and not everyone needs to be loyal

And also Mordin doesn't really have a crucial role in ME3 because if he dies another Salarien cures the Genophage= not very crucial

Yes, there's also the upgrades to the Normandy. My mistake for not mentioning that. As for Mordin being replaced, I didn't know anything about that.

That applies to everyone though; there'll always be a replacement in ME3 if they'd die.

Still, I never cared for replacements, even though Thane's death is inevitable because Kai Leng kills him if he survives ME2. And he was dying anyway.

It doesn't aply to everyone tho, if Samara dies or you take Morinth, when you go to the Ardat yakshi monestary there is no replacement, even Morinth doesn't appear in that mission, and anyway i was just pointing out what the OP said about Mordin being crucial

No. Not everyone has a replacement, and you do often get 'worse' story results if they're not alive/present/loyal in ME3. Though one may want that for a more dramatic/fitting story for their Shepard.

And in the end, it makes 0 difference.

It determines what kind of Shepard you've decided your Shepard will be. Whether he's affected by what he's seen, or not. Whether he's encountered so much loss, or minimized loss whenever possible. Leading him to pick X decision at the end. "You are Commander Shepard" -Bioware

This may not be a type of RP you enjoy or think matters though. I respect that.

And meanwhile, the people not caring about a difference or where they want their story to go are those who begin to dislike the Mass Effect series because of how Mass Effect 3 ends.

Well, this is one possible solution, though there's many ways of getting everyone through it alive and not just the one.

It's weird, I've always found it easier to get everyone through alive than to have someone die. You almost have to actively decide to have someone killed.

When I say there's "many ways" I mean there's more than one good choice for people in each role to choose from.

And when I say you almost have to actively choose to have someone die, yeah to be fair that's more once you know how the suicide mission works. You have to actively decide not to do the three major upgrades, or you have to actively choose the wrong person for a role, or you have to actively choose to not gain somebody's loyalty (though you can get through with non-loyal members) and so on.

There's another guide here, not only on having everyone survive but orchestrating specific outcomes: http://forum.bioware.com/topic/165410-mass-effect-2s-suicide-mission-guide-everything-about-the-final-mission/
