Romance option Liara
I just got the games and I wondered if it's possible for a male Shepherd to romance Liara. If so is the a special thing I have to do or a certain place to start?

Only if you have Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC and only if you have romanced her in Mass Effect 1 and imported your save into Mass Effect 2

Liara's a romance option for both male and female Shepard

Okay. If I indeed didn't get the DLC with the trilogy then where can I get it?

You can only romance Liara in ME2 if you carry that romance on from ME1. And you only get more involved romance content if you have the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC.

You cannot romance Liara through ME2 alone. Well, not unless you use a (somewhat complicated) fan made save file editing program.

In ME3, you can start or restart a romance with Liara, regardless of save import.

You get the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC through the Bioware website or (I think) Origin, if your copy is on Origin.

Ok, thank you. I'm just starting in the first game so I'll start romance then

Yeah :). For the record (don't read if you don't want, um, character name 'spoilers'? lol):

ME1:
-Kaidan (male, hetero)
-Ashley (female, hetero)
-Liara ('female', bi)

ME2:
-somewhat continuing Kaidan (male, hetero)
-somewhat continuing Ashley (female, hetero)
-continuing Liara ('female', bi - LOTSB assists greatly)
-Miranda (female, hetero)
-Jacob (male, hetero)
-Jack (female, hetero)
-Thane (male, hetero)
-Tali (female, hetero)
-Garrus (male, hetero)
-Kelly... (not really but kinda)
-flirtations with some others

ME3:
-starting or restarting or continuing Kaidan (male, BI added)
-starting or restarting or continuing Ashley (female, hetero)
-starting or restarting or continuing Liara ('female', bi)
-continuing Miranda (female, hetero)
-somewhat continuing Jacob (male, hetero)
-continuing Jack (female, hetero)
-somewhat continuing Thane (male, hetero)
-continuing Tali (female, hetero)
-continuing Garrus (male, hetero)
-Samantha (female, ♥♥♥♥)
-Steve (male, ♥♥♥♥)
-possible 'romanceish' bits, depending on DLC and previous actions and not having an active romance (Kelly, Samara, etc)

DLC that involves romance:
-ME2 Lair of the Shadow Broker for Liara
-ME3 Extended Cut for more recognition of romance
-ME3 Leviathan for recognition of active romance if romance is in your party for first mission
-ME3 Omega for not the active romances, but if you take a certain RP path theres romancish bits with another character
-ME3 Citadel IS HUGE FOR ROMANCES, especially for adding more content to the more secondary (non-Ashley/Kaidan/Liara) ones

All in all, there's several options, depending on your priorities, content you've completed or even bought, and what orientations you'll entertain yourself with.

Personally went ME1 none, ME2 none, ME3 Kaidan bi.
Boyfriend went ME1 none I think?, ME2 Miranda, ME3 Miranda.
A friend who visits me to play sometimes, she's going ME1 Liara, but this may change in this ME2 playthrough.

Awesome. Does ME3 have active multiplayer?
SwobyJ Mar 17, 2015 @ 10:17am
ME3 has active but now steadily declining multiplayer. It'll probably die or nearly die when the next Mass Effect comes out (which will very likely have a MP mode).

It assists in getting points to help getting higher versions of the endings, but with Extended Cut DLC, the requirements for endings was slashed and you don't need MP at all for it.
Neuroglia13 Mar 17, 2015 @ 10:19am
Okay. I'm pretty sure the bundle came with the extended cut.
SwobyJ Mar 17, 2015 @ 10:26am
I don't think it does (as in, its not automatically installed). However, its a free download on Origin.

ME3's MP is alive and kicking, but consider it as an option to shoot things if you enjoyed combat systems in ME2-3 and want to play more. I'm first-person shooters fan, but I really enjoy combats in ME 2-3, especially in ME 2.

For the first time you can try ME3 MP without installed MP DLCs and then install all MP DLCs, MP DLCs are free. But they ruin experience of MP, they're adding "challenges" (long-term achievements) and "cool" pictures for your MP profile. So some people are playing just for them.

ME3 MP DLC ruin experience of MP? How?
T02my Mar 17, 2015 @ 12:31pm
It might sound weird to hear, but here how it looks from my perspective. I'm a newbie, so I began to play from Bronze, then Silver, then started to play on Gold when I understood that I could handle it and be useful (do objectives, revive allies, kill weak enemy). In that time I had no weapon upgrades, did not use one match ammo/armor modifiers, heavy weapon, etc. The people who could not play on Gold were usually leaving by themselfes. Noone even yelled at me or someone with microphone, everybody seem to quiet enjoy the game and I was enjoying it too. Until I noticed that MP DLC are actually free.

So then I as usual choose to find a gold lobby. Okey-h, found. Got kicked because my N7 level is too low and I've got no challenges points. That was the reason tho. I understand that people don't wanna ruin them game by having a "noob" in squad. But it still happens very often in gold lobby. So then I was trying to host a lobby by myself, rofl, someone joined to me and attemped to kickvote me as a Lobby leader. Glad that I had an access to a console, so I KICKBAN'ed the person who wanted to kick me. And now I'm always kicking some tryhard player for "Challenges" who votes to kick the other person because of his low N7 level or other things.

For the first time I did expect that this will happen in MP, but in Vanilla ME 3 MP everything was fine, people there play just for fun. Sometimes I'm glad that there's no text chat in ME 3 MP. (Surely you can communicate with a console, but almost noone knows that)

Weird and sad that it happens in Gold. Gold shouldn't require much elitism. Platinum maybe. (And not at all Silver or Bronze)

Don't worry about it i get kicked now and then and my N7 rating is over 5000 and i can hold my own on Platinum
