MASS EFFECT 2 WON'T START (I TRIED ALL)

A black screen just starts up, and then after a few seconds it goes to my desktop, same the guy under this post, but the diferrence is I tried all and nothing (verify cache, compatibility sp2, administrator start and patches, and nothing works) im desesperate, any help would be aprecciate......

Try disabling the Steam overlay.
What are you computer specifications?

the problem is the game no steam, i've me2 on origin and steam and don't work on both platforms, sorry my english.

Here are a few things to try:

1. Verify the game cache. This makes sure all the files of the game have downloaded correctly.
Steam
Right-click the game title > Properties > Local Files > Verify the Integrity of Game cache
Origin
Right-click the game's Library icon, and click "Repair game"

2. Turn off the in-game overlay (problem affects Mass Effect 1 and 2)
Steam
Right-click the game title > Properties > General. Clear the check box for "Enable the Steam Overlay While in-game"
Origin
Right-click the game title > Game Properties > Tick the check box for "Disable Origin In Game for this game"

3. Run the game as administrator
Here's how:
Steam
Right click the game title in your Steam library, select Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files. This will open the folder that Mass Effect is installed to.
Origin
If you did not change the default location, games will be installed to C: drive > Program Files (x86) > Origin Games. Open the folder labelled Mass Effect 2

Open the Binaries folder. Find the file "MassEffect.exe".
Right-click the file, select Properties > Compatibility. Tick the box "Run this program as administrator" (it's near the bottom of the tab).


4. Run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2
Navigate to the game folder as described above.
Open the Binaries folder. Find the file "MassEffect.exe".
Right-click the file, select Properties > Compatibility. Tick the box "Run this program in compatibility for" and choose "Windows XP SP2."

Are you getting a PhysX error when the game crashes? If so, you might need to install the PhysX Legacy drivers.

You're playing on an AMD / Radeon system, but sometimes PhysX is required just for the game to launch. The Legacy drivers take care of that problem if it exists.


These steps usually resolve most problems. If you still don't have a working game after performing them, you might have to uninstall / re-install the game.

Hi Guys and Girls, guess you are having trouble getting Mass Effect 2 to start or Launch like a rocket, here try this, if you still have Mass Effect 1 on your system, open up the main file which is located in your Local Disk (C:) Program Files (x86), Steam, steamapps, common and the game Mass Effect 1 and open up your Binaries file, then look for binkw32.dll and make a copy of it.

Now just paste it in your (Mass Effect 2) on your local Disk(C:) Program Files (x86), Steam, steamapps, common and your Mass Effect 2 Binaries file, job done, now play with no problems.

There's another issue I just ran into. If you have Origin running, it will try to install ME2 there. I started having the problem where the Steam version wasn't running and decided to uninstall the Origin version. Apparently the installs were tied together and everything was uninstalled.

I'm not sure the steam version will work anymore if it's trying to install on Origin, might have to just give up and, either don't play it or, play it through Origin.

Can't have both Steam and Origin versions installed at the same, they share registry entries. Pick one.

If you've had both installed it might need manual registry cleaning (uninstall both versions, cleanup registry, reinstall version of choice).
