Mass Effect 2 Archangel bug

I am on the mission to get the Archangel. I get recruited, go to Omega, etc. But when I get to the bridge, the game wont let me shoot the mercs to help the Archangel. Please give me sollutions to the problem. I have restarted the mission countless times, loaded my autosave and nothing seems to work.

This may seem like a stupid question but I have to ask, have you actually triggered the start of the assault by talking to Sergeant Kathka who is fixing the gunship? After that you'll start to follow some people across the bridge to the base, then you should be able to.

I only ask because before you speak to Kathka all you can do is talk to people.

It's perfectly fine! And yes, I have started it by assaulting the Sergeant. I followed the people acrros the bridge but when I get the base I am unable to shoot. I am only able to aim, but not fire.
