Weapon hotkeys?

First off, I have Mass Effect 2 via Origin, not Steam, and I bought back when Origin had it on sale, but I never got around to it until now. I'm just saying that for the benefit of those who like to point out that a person must not have a legal version of the game due to no mouse icon...

Anyway, is there a way to assign my weapons to the menu in the upper left of the screen? That seems to be for Powers, but I don't know. I'm still kinda noob to ME 2. I tried to drag my pistol into a slot and nothing happens.

And if that can't be done, is there some other way? I would really like to have my individual weapons assigned to hotkeys for quick selection.

No, no hotkeys for weapons, the upper left is for powers only as you suspected.

You can hit the X key to switch to the previously held weapon. This makes switching between two weapons very easy (works even if the previous weapon was a heavy weapon). But if you want to change to a third weapon, you'll have to bring up the HUD and manually select which one you want.

Well I guess that's as good as it gets then. I didn't notice there was a key for previous weapon, so that's useful, and I've already gotten used to using the HUD for changing weapons. At least it responds quickly...

Unless you accidentally click the wrong one, then you have to let go and start again. I'm always doing that
