Disable Console or Change Console Keybindings
So it seems console commands are enabled by default in ME2, is there any way to turn it off or change the keybindings? Perhaps even a launch optiuon that can be set to turn it off?

My problem is that both Tab and @ open the console and because @ opens the console it means I cant enter my email address to log into the cerberus network. Copy and paste also doesnt work on the input field. Ive tried looking through the games ini files but I cant find anything relating to keybindings or the console, and google searching doesnt bring up much on the matter either. It also being linked to Tab is annoying as it sometimes opens if I activate the steam overlay.

Figured a temporary work around by changing my keyboards input language from UK to US to change the @ key location

Did you ever figure out a permanent work around?

You can change keybindings in Coalesced.ini in your game directory (under directories: BioGame\Config\PC\Cooked).

You can find them under various headings such as [SFXGame.SFXGameModeDefault] and [SFXGame.SFXGameModeBase], and further down below.

As far as disabling console, you can remove the values for the parameters ConsoleKey=Tilde
and TypeKey=Tab under the heading [Engine.Console]. I have not tested this in practice as I find the console useful, but should work.

Note: editing Coalesced.ini MUST be done in a proper editor (for instance Notepad++, plain Notepad, Wordpad, Word won't work and will corrupt the file). It can also make your game crash on startup, if that happens run this mod after editing: https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffect2/mods/116

I couldn't find the file specified in the last reply, so I ended up trying out the alt code for @ to see if that would work, and it did. Alt+64 on your numpad will add the @, without having to mess with any settings, which seems helpful - especially if your EA Online/Cerberus Network server connection drops as frequently as mine has been. The keybinds make perfect sense for US keyboards, but not ours in the UK, haha.
