New Game+ not available?

I finished the game first and when I was prompted to choose between restarting the story with on my current level - I accidentally chose "Continue". Later I went back to the beginning of the final mission and at the same prompt I choose "Main Menu". There I could import my current level ME2 character but when I stand on the Normandy it is the continued game again, with all story and side missions completed.
Is there any method to enable NG+ at this point?

There is no NG+, after beating Human reaper you continue the game (to finish the rest side quests, uncompleted DLC, etc).

OMG, that is most disappointing. Even in ME1 you can restart the whole adventure with your current level, paragon/renegade skills etc...

I was wrong. Just finished the Collectors and 2nd option was about NG+ I assume.

NG+ works in Mass Effect 2 just like in the first game. Whatever you choose "Main menu" or "Continue", it doesn't matter. Just click "New game" in the main menu, then you will see "ME2 Import" button. This option gives you opportunity to choose existing character, which you have already comleted your playthrough. After that you will be able to complete the story again. And when you import ME2 character you can change only appearance of Shepard, nothing more.

AND having finished ME2 once gives you access to a bonus power from the start and some ressources and a credit boost, thats their ng+.
