Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Building a vanguard destroyer, any advice.
So I got my vanguard to ME2 but I need some advice. My plan is to make her a destroyer type but I think stacking for melee and weapons may not be best. Is going for power damage better or is she good as a brawler. I chose slam as a bonus.

Charge + Slam is a good initiation and crowd control but lacks the damage for big single targets. You could either spread your skill points around to give you options, or you could delegate single target damage to your squad and focus on making space and drawing aggro.

I personally favour good weapon damage on vanguard for this reason but that's my personal preference.

Melee and weapon damage on a Vanguard sounds great to me. Charge > shot + melee > shot + melee, repeat until he's dead. Destroyer gives also power damage, wich affects ammo powers. After a Biotic Charge, one shot in the head can leave some enemies defenseless.

Champion has more survivability. Better Cooldown reduction allows you to use Biotic Charge more often (so you can recharge your shields), you have more health, and higher Power Duration for better crowd control with Pull. It also affects some Bonus Powers.

In order to choose, you should think if you prefer Power Damage or Duration since that's the main difference. Both specializations have the other 3 bonuses with different numbers.

Do you like Slam for the damage or the CC? If you like Crippling Slam, Champion will extend it's duration. Destroyer if you like it for Heavy slam or Biotic Detonations.

To unlock Pull you need to spend 2 points in Shockwave wich I dislike in ME2. If you DO like Shockwave, consider also leveling up Pull and changing your Bonus Power. If you don't like Shockwave you can save your points and keep Slam.

I do spec Shockwave on my Vanguards, it's too useful not to have it. Charge, shotgun a few rounds (while powers recharge), then Shockwave. In Mass Effect 3, Nova is a way better option.
