Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Mass Effect 2 (2010)

DLC needs EA account too??
Just bought and installed ME 2. The pack came with a couple of DLC's but it seems to require additional accounts with EA to activate. Is this really the case??? I don't want to create more accounts than my Steam one, and certainly not for b****y EA.

Yes this is really the case.

Damn it. Looks like no DLC for me. I did own the whole trilogy on PS3 (which no longer works) and that included a bunch of DLC and didn't require additional activations. Thanks anayway.

The dlc can be downloaded off their website, which you will need to then run to activate. I'm not sure if you need an account to do this though, but you should take a look.

Yes you need an account.

Yes the majority (not all) of ME2 DLC is still *NOT FREE* (Big ones like Lair and Arrival and Overlord are not free, small ones like Normandy Crash Site are, and just because you can download every file does not mean they are all free, you still have to activate them through an EA account, and the DLC files that are not flagged as purchased on your account will not be considered activated, so they won't work ingame).

Yes, if you find any modded files to "crack" the DLC you are committing software piracy.

I know where this thread is going... the same place they all do...

I'm not interested in illegitemate copies or jumping through lots of hoops, even though some of the DLC was terrific. Really I'm annoyed at how difficult it is to buy the whole trilogy and DLC. It must be one of the greatest game series out there. You'd think they'd want the game to be easy to buy as possible. And whats the logic behind only allowing ME1 and ME2 on steam?

By the time ME3 came out, EA threw a hissy fit about the whole Steam/Origin thing and decided they were not going to have 3 carried on Steam and Origin, they will just do it on Origin, since Origin is their own thing.

I still remember 2010 when you had do go to the bioware Webpage to download everything (it looked like a forum).....i bought all DLCs but even I still dont manage do make them run here on Steam. Of course i can play it on Origin with all DLCs, my account is still the same, but i would like to be on steam (Screenshots, talking with friends etc.) It is so messy to get it work here completely with all the stuff i bought legally back then.

I only use Origin for playing ME3 MP and ME3 to be honest.

Same. It's the only reason I have an Origin account.

I have it and Steam for respective games I like that I want to play on PC- and Origin lets me buy the EA games I want in my own currency- my only bug is the need for DLC authetication playing through on Origin or XBOX when, they're their own DRM.
Its been a long time since I used my EA/CD registered account, I wonder if it's worth it to try to re-engage, should I bother with going to ME3, is it worth it? I kind of imagine it will be but I'm just starting over ME2 again at this point, don't even know much about whether it's got the uodates, am confused by there being two werxions in my steam account, anyway wanted to focus on that for the tine being.
