Mass Effect 2 (2010)

What DLC *IS* free, what is *NOT* and is a "DLC unlocker" piracy/illegal or no?
It seems to me that ME2 DLC content is in a very strange, grey area today. The Bioware Social site is defunct, but there's still an official EA page to download individual DLCs for "older" games (https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/download-dlc-for-classic-origin-games/). However, I keep reading that for ME2, even with those downloads, you still will have to pay to unlock? Is that true?

If true, I saw mentions of a DLC unlocker for ME2, which if I read it right, disables Cerberus Network from checking if you're "allowed" to active the DLC. *IF* DLC is free, then would such an unlocker be be piracy or would it be a perfectly legit workaround?

To further confuse you (sorry), the last time I played ME2 years ago, I recall downloading individual files 1 by 1 for ME2 DLC in a very easy, non-convoluted way, and there was no issue getting them working at all. I had Kasumi, Normandy Crash Site, something about Zaed... Maybe some others. I never had Lair of The Shadow Broker, and I don't care if I ever do so that's not an issue.

For ME2 I have only ever played this Steam version, so please don't tell me to go to Origin and use theirs :P

Any "workaround" that circumvents drm and provides free access to paid content is piracy.

If you wish to purchase additional DLC - even to use with the Steam version - you have to purchase the DLC though Origin. This can be done through their website, though; the Origin client software isn't necessary.

Free DLC is:
- Normandy Crash Site (all)
- Zaeed The Price of Revenge (all)
- Cerberus Weapon and Armor (all)
- Arc Projector (all)
- Firewalker Pack (all)
- Terminus Weapon and Armor (all)
- M-29 Incisor sniper rifle (Deluxe Edition only)
- Collector Weapon and Armor (Deluxe Edition only)
- Umbra Visor, Sentry Interface, Recon Hood (Dr. Pepper promotional items)
- Blood Dragon Armor (if you own a copy of Dragon Age Origins)
The promo DLC isn't available from the official EA link, and is linked from my guide.

If you previously played Kasumi, you must have purchased it through the EA store, which means it is registered to your EA account. If you can recall those login credentials, and use them to log in to the Cerberus Network in the Mass Effect 2 menu, Kasumi (and other DLC you purchased) will verify after installing them.

My Steam version has only, without downloading anything:

Digital Deluxe Preorder Cerberus Key
Digital Deluxe Preorder Game Key
Digital Deluxe Preorder Promo Key

As you can see, I bought this before it dropped, so it has been a looooooonnnnnng time.

That is not an answer. They no longer recognize ME1 and ME2. Not as far as DLC is concerned.

https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/origin/origin/download-dlc-for-classic-origin-games/ is the only relevant site for it, but it doesn't clarify if you can freely activiate the DLC in game, hence my post.

CrackeR if you are personally "frustrated" or "sick" of people asking, then the solution for you is to ignore people who ask rather than giving a response you know full well is not helpful.

Oh man, it will be tough to remember account details. Lots has changed. Hopefully it will be recognized when I reinstall ME2. Ah well.

Aye just had a few shots of Beam and a chuckle so thank you for the entertainment! <cheers>:steammocking:
Everything is on that second link that you need, so i dont see what your problem is? There are a couple that you MUST buy to use , One is Genesis and the other i believe was for Kasumi. So i dont really see what you are after other then needng comfort and approval to steal DLC. (Pirate) i believe is the applicable term here...

Ah, ok, I can understand then. I retract my implication that you were trolling. Cheers!

Bump back up to previous post. I edited it.

Well at the end of the day, I aint no rum swilling pirate. Software piracy is why terrible DRM and exhorbitant pricing exists today so I will not be using any "unlocker." Guess it's time to see what exactly my EA account has open to it. Thanks all.
