Mass Effect 2 (2010)

Mass Effect 2 (2010)

"Needs Updated PhysX" When using an AMD card.
Huh, funny that. It's for Nvidia cards when I have AMD.
But activated in the last mission mid cutscene just after I finished the game.

Long story: I was playing the final mission, completed it, cut scene was playing. But just as it did Mass Effect 3 finished installing, and my game crashed and now won't start. I've read other threads about this, no one answers clearly as how to fix it if you have only an AMD card.

How can I fix this and can someone explain it as simply as possible? I'm running on a lack of sleep since I'd run through this damn last level so many times to make sure everyone survived.

Much appreciated.

In your ME2 game folder open the redist folder and run the physx .exe file, close out when done restart Steam and play the game

Thanks dude, you're a lifesaver!
I was afraid it'd be so much more convoluted.

Read this page , i think at the very least you need to install Legacy driver, but run his checklist first!...
Here are a few things to try:

1. Verify the game cache. This makes sure all the files of the game have downloaded correctly.
Steam
Right-click the game title > Properties > Local Files > Verify the Integrity of Game cache
Origin
Right-click the game's Library icon, and click "Repair game"

2. Turn off the in-game overlay (problem affects Mass Effect 1 and 2)
Steam
Right-click the game title > Properties > General. Clear the check box for "Enable the Steam Overlay While in-game"
Origin
Right-click the game title > Game Properties > Tick the check box for "Disable Origin In Game for this game"

3. Run the game as administrator
Here's how:
Steam
Right click the game title in your Steam library, select Properties > Local Files > Browse Local Files. This will open the folder that Mass Effect is installed to.
Origin
If you did not change the default location, games will be installed to C: drive > Program Files (x86) > Origin Games. Open the folder labelled Mass Effect 2

Open the Binaries folder. Find the file "MassEffect.exe".
Right-click the file, select Properties > Compatibility. Tick the box "Run this program as administrator" (it's near the bottom of the tab).

4. Run the game in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2
Navigate to the game folder as described above.
Open the Binaries folder. Find the file "MassEffect.exe".
Right-click the file, select Properties > Compatibility. Tick the box "Run this program in compatibility for" and choose "Windows XP SP2."

Are you getting a PhysX error when the game crashes? If so, you might need to install the PhysX Legacy drivers.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.1031-legacy-driver.html
You're playing on an AMD / Radeon system, but sometimes PhysX is required just for the game to launch. The Legacy drivers take care of that problem if it exists.

These steps usually resolve most problems. If you still don't have a working game after performing them, you might have to uninstall / re-install the game.

Mine didn't work either, if you have an AMD try deleting it. That worked for me.

As I said, deleting the file worked for me.

How do you delete this file?
Hung Trans Bun Jan 15, 2017 @ 9:18am
You go to the games folder and then inside redlist you'll see it.

My card is not AMD, my card is Nvidia and I do not see anything that is called AMD :(
