Praetorian insane
Ok so I started as a soldier and playing on insane difficulty, I was doing ok but now I'm on Horizon and I got to fight something that's called Praetorian and wtf ? He spawn a new barrier without I even finished taking the 1st one done ! People on the internet speak about warp ammo but ayy I don't have those I'm only level 8 so .... yeah I don't really get it. He's like "can't touch this", as soon as his barrier is like at 25% he smash the ground and go full again.

Oh yeah, sorry but insane difficulty is not even remotely fun. Its just one BS incident after another. And they get worse. If you want to have a little more fun and a bit of challenge then tone it down a notch to hard core.

Keep your squadmates away from the Praetorian; they can trigger its Death Choir attack, which instantly recharges its barrier. It will focus on Shepard, so stick them behind cover somewhere and run from cover to cover on the map and whittle down the barrier with powers.

Miranda should be in your squad so you can use her Warp power to take down the barrier. For the second squadmate you can either go with Garrus, Grunt or Zaeed for high damage output and an additional Concussive Shot, or you can bring Jack for Squad Warp Ammo.

If you have access to the Geth Plasma Shotgun, an overcharged shot with Warp Ammo will be devastating (it has an innate damage bonus against barriers, too). Other than that, most rapid-fire weapons are a good bet. Also consider bringing the M-920 Cain and get in a shot at the start of the fight before the Praetorian raises its barrier. Even on Insanity it should remove more than half of the armor bar.

Restart the mission and choose a different squad and loadout if you have to.

It's fun for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can see how you'd think otherwise if you don't prepare accordingly.

Well finally got him, downing barrier with heavy weapon while staying as far as I could, then chunking out armour with sniper.

But you're right, it's not really fun. I mean, I have no real issue in progressing, it's just that it's so boring. I'm more of a run and gun type of player but no matter the 50% reduced damage I got shot down so, so fast that the only viable tactic is to stand behind cover with assault rifle, sniper rifle and heavy pistol and patiently clear each ennemy wave and proceed, while taking care of flankers. When I respect this protocol I have no real difficulty out of miniboss (such as praetorian or YMIRs) however it's quite boring, and if I try anything else I get deleted in seconds.

It wasn't like that in ME1 and IIRC it isn't like that in ME3 either. I don't like the leveling system, I don't like the empty sidequests, I don't really like this gameplay, well so far I don't really like anything but the scenario.

Besides that it seems that leveling has no effect, no matter what. The LOKI mechs that are the 1st ennmy encountered in the game are still blasting me if I'm uncovered, nothing changes, upgrading power provide mostly abysmall bonuses. Gameplay vary very little because you have the same weapon always, no new brand, only upgrades that you barely feel on the battlefield (except the snipe headshot bonus damage). Even if I leveled a lot and spent quite a lot of time gathering ressources to improve my equpiment I don't feel like I'm progressing. Usually in games like this I like the beasty sensation you got when you start to be leveled and geared and you're encountering early game ennemies, but this just doesn't exist at all in this game.
