Can't remember anything of the sort. I think there are husks because Bioware wanted you to fight husks.
Dreadnought Feb 7, 2017 @ 2:30pm
<_< they coulda sorta mention our friend collectors used 30% of the colonist as husks and the other 70% in our Terminator
Vellari Feb 7, 2017 @ 2:49pm
There is some dialog between squad mentioning the husk are different from Eden Prime husks "more advanced" thus confiming Collector/Reapers link. But doesn't go any further speculation on how these husks are created. Maybe in the pods?

This game is beyond dumb. I thought Id play thru the series again recently and loved ME1 when I finished it. I cant get into ME2 in any way shape or form and I doubt I will even bother finishing it.

The story is about as dumb and contrived as possible, everyone acts like a stereotype and nothing makes any sense. For instance WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ did Kaiden just walk out from around a corner at the end of Horizon? We literally saw the man get paralyzed at the start of the mission, and if he did some biotic ♥♥♥♥ to protect himself why did he wait till the last shot was fired to come out and stomp his feet about shepard being alive which he was somehow both shocked to find out about but angry because his reports were true. Pick one, you can either be surprised you found out your old friend is still alive, or have read reliable reports about him still being alive (prob from anderson since you went to the citidel), you cant have both and it just sounds retarded when literally the next line of dialog after "I cant believe you're still alive" is "I read the reports and hoped it wasnt true"... He then just storms off into nowhere... Where the ♥♥♥♥ are you going Kaiden? Did you forget 90% of the colony was just kidnapped and communications are still out? I guess the writers did too.

The gameplay has been dumbed down to a point of absurdity. Im not going to defend ME1s terrible inventory system but the solution to it wasnt "Just remove it. Infact, remove all stats and customization, Just toss in a bunch of missable upgrades linked to a boring ass mini game. people love boring mini games and they especially love when you can permantly miss important things. Who needs to compare equipment? Just literally say "Upgrades [x]" in the description and force people to look at game files or go to a wiki to actually do RPG ♥♥♥♥". Is gun X better than gun Y? Well if it doesnt explicitly say "upgrades [Y]" I need to lower the game and open a wiki. Really does wonders for immersion when you need to leave the game to do basic ♥♥♥♥ like compare weapons. Even their explaination for the new ammo system is the dumbest thing possible. "Guns build up heat and need to be purged to keep from overheating"...Are you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ kidding me? That made sense to anyone? Why do they not regen ammo them? Are the gun's heatsinks perfect devices that let off zero heat? Its just a stupid and contrived explination to a piss poor mechanic that doesnt fit the world the game exists in. I especially found it funny how they tout their new regenerating health system (not even going to touch this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) as "saving you time since you dont need to search for medgel anymore", while at the same time they now force you to look for ammo every 12 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ seconds...

The controls are just the absolute worst. You cant turn while running now and I get stuck on random geomotry every few steps. If I had a dollar for every time Shepard stopped in the middle of an open area for no reason, I could buy all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ overpriced DLC. You need to edit the ini files to even make it playable since the mouse at low is like any other games max settings, and god forbid you add or remove a single character from the game's ini, for w/e reason BioWare saw it fit to impose a character requirment in the INI files. Is 1.0 too fast but 0.9 too slow? Well ♥♥♥♥ you cause 0.95 will break the game so it cant even open.

The world feels narrow and linear. ME1 was mostly just a series of straight corridors but it never felt like it, you moved organically through each level. ME2 is just hallway, big open space with chest high cover, hallway, big open space with chest high cover. What is this Gears of War?

I remember liking this game when it came out but I cant even force myself to give a ♥♥♥♥ now.

This helps highlight some of my issues. "More advanced"? They literally die in two shots now. ME1 husks were a threat, they were bullet sponges that charged you and needed to be taken care of ASAP, these new husks are just cannon fodder. In what way are they more advanced? It sounds like the writers forgot to let the art department and AI programmers know they were supposed to be "more advanced" and just copy pasted them into this game as lazy way to link the collectors to the reapers.

This game sucks compared to ME1.

remenber ME1 husks had that energy discharge that caused heavy damage to everything around on insane is pratically suicide fighting vs 2-3 husks

hmm need a full diagnostic of ME1,2,3 probly ME1 still the best

This was my origional plan. I wanted to play through all three with a single save file. I remember them being good, and I havnt played them in a very long time so I thought this would be a treat since I always lost my save files by the time the next game came out so I always played a fresh new Shepard.

Looks like 1 is the only one I know is good. Very flawed and by no means perfect, but a deeply satisfying game with a standard amount of plot holes and a compelling story.

2 feels like the lazy cash in sequel that tries to take on the popular mechanics of the time it was released. This is why it feels more like Mass Effect of War, and not an actual RPG. Im 3 hours in and I cant think of a single mission that hasnt made me go "Wait a second... Why is...". The only thing I like about it is Mordin, he's alot of fun to be around but not nearly enough to keep me invested in a game I detest.

Im almost scared to try 3, the drop in quality from 1 to 2 is so massive I cant see any positive thoughts I have about the game as anything but nostalgia.

Disappointed would be the word I'd use. Mass Effect was a great game, it was a solid RPG with solid shooter mechanics, a story that actually had me invested, and it felt good to play on a keyboard.

I can say none of these things about ME2. If I knew 2 was going to be so ♥♥♥♥♥♥, I would have spent more time in 1 finishing side missions instead of blasting through the story so I can play its 2 sequels.

Its also worth noting I just finished ME last night and started 2 this morning so its a fresh wound. Its never fun playing a game you remember loving only for it to be terrible.

If you want a really thorough analysis on the series, someone made a 50-part (!) retrospective. I really recommend it, but it is long.

edit: maybe I should add the link

Even easier with biotics. Powers like throw/pull = instakill. Best is if you have shockwave. A horde of husks charging at you? One shockwave and they're all dead. "More advanced"...

Eh, opinions.

I think 2 is the best mainly because its the most balanced out of them all.
