Face import to 3 [SOLVED]
I seem to remember this being an issue at launch but its still broken? is there a way around it that doesn't involve launching my game a billion times or counting slider ticks? pretty astounding that one of the selling points of the game is virtually non-functional. i guess thats EA for you.

In ME2, open the squad menu. In the upper left, above your name, there's an "identity code". Write that code down.

In ME3's face customisation, in the lower left you can enter that code.

Don't be surprised though, faces tend to look very different in ME3, especially Femsheps.
I just imported mine yesterday, and it seemed to handle the job just fine. There are some small visual differences, but it was clearly my character. If you are worried, take the ID code route. Or just do the import, and see how it looks. You can still tweek the import's appearance, as I flipped to a hair type not in 2.

The code is the default because me1 does not use codes, it translates from raw slider data. thats why it wont transfer over.

thank you but see above, the custom face code is the default because me1 didn't use codes
It's not the default code. I just checked with a few ME2 characters whose faces were imported from ME1. They have different codes that can be used in either ME2 or 3.

What's odd is that one of them (my current playthrough), when entered, results in a completely different face. Entering the same code in ME3 and it's the same wrong face.

I said above that your face might look very different in ME3, that was from my previous playthrough where I had a very similar face. Importing from ME1 to ME2 worked, but from ME2 to ME3 switched to something that looked more like the old default Femshep. I wonder if this is a bug caused by some sliders being in the "wrong" place? Must try to find out what's going on because I want to keep my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ face when going to ME3.

Anyway, the other two I tried worked fine.

i understand, but what im telling you is thats the broken part, my face code for 2 is 541.DJD.LTF.A3G.AAV.JBD.MDJ.6PG.G72.AG1.645.4 if you enter that into me2 or 3's code box or whatever, you'll get the default custom face, like a ginger asian dude with a patchy goatee. aka, not my shepard. so my question is is there a fix other than actually counting the tick marks in each slider section in me1 and just doing doing it again in 3, which tbh wouldn't actually be that hard but still pain in my dongo if you feel me.
update using face sliders from me1 does not work because you cant go edit the face after importing, same goes for me2, meaning the only other option besided the gibbed save edit nonesense (not trying to mess with that) is the "recreate from picture" option. and i would like to avoid that if possible

Yes I understand your problem too now, seems to be the same that I'm having with my current build. It's odd because with my other characters I tried so far it works.

I've got an idea, maybe the bug is that some slider has fewer options in ME2 or something like that, and having a number/letter above that in the code makes it default to one of the presets. Gotta try that out later.

iirc it's possible to edit your imported face in ME3, but it's certainly not possible in ME2.

Right, I wanted to try out my theory. Really looking forward to go through ME2's opening sequence for the 50,000th time -_-

hmm which won't help in my case as its the default custom. as usual the ea support is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and their forums are arguably worse. they've told me 3 times now that "it was fixed with a patch" or "update your game to the the latest version" (which it is) obviously wasn't fixed because im looking at it right now... ugh this is infuriating.
It's obviously not fixed. I wonder if Bioware ever patches anything, I just can't believe they never fixed the bug in ME1 that made Garrus face always use low quality textures.

My theory didn't work, but I'm trying something else now.

i was actually able to fix the nasty textures in 1 with an edit to the .ini file if you're interested in giving it a shot. but yeah please let me know if you can get anything working ill take anything at this point.

My theory was (maybe I misunderstood you) that the code displayed in the squad menu was correct, just that there was a bug in the face creation if I entered the code. I wanted to try what happens if instead of entering the code I move all the sliders to the positions that match the code. First tried browsing the presets though only to find out that one of them indeed has the same code that was displayed in the squad menu, which means the code displayed in the squad menu is wrong. Guess that's what you meant, but only now I think I fully understand.

Save editor doesn't work either, you can export a ME2 face but only import that face in ME2 again, no way of taking it over to ME3. Guess that means we're out of luck, can't think of anything anymore that could make it work. This sucks.

i remember reading some article about using the gibbed save editor and actually calculating a facecode but i was really hoping i didnt have to do it. i might have to now though.
