it's kind of weird, since his best gift is the interactive history of chocolate, which does take mechanisms to craft, but you'll way more gizmos than it takes to craft them.
it is an expensive gift though, costing sparks and chocolate coins, so you could consider gifting ancient inventions instead, which only costs blank books and mechanisms.
This is intentional. If you were able to unlock everything a lot quicker you would progress way too fast and find yourself with everything completed and nothing to do. This game is meant to be played in daily bursts with weekly goals in mind. This is the type of game this is. It definitely isn't for everyone but if you're looking for a relaxing and chill experience, this is it. Don't stress about getting everything done as fast as possible and unlocking everything right away. Do your daily's and weekly's and then play other games you enjoy.
My only problem is that the quests following are all time gated so you can only do one of them a day. Needing to get that many resources makes it so you won't be able to start those quests. I feel the sheer amount of materials some quests have is kind of crazy considering you are still locked behind a daily quest before you can progress anyway. I ended up just resetting with friendship bouquets so it wasn't a big deal just a somewhat minor inconvenience.
