Highly unlikely the creators of Hello Kitty Island Adventure were unaware of the South Park episode. In fact, it’s more believable that this was divine satire manifesting itself through corporate branding.

It’s like someone made Nuka-Cola in real life and claimed they’d never heard of Fallout.
