i can't bake an apple pie

did anyone else get stuck on the journey to chefhood quest? i have the dialogue w/ hello kitty asking me if i had the ingredients for the apple pie, i say that yes i do have those ingredients, but the oven doesn't let me bake an apple pie. and yes i have apple and flour in my inventory... :(

Go to hello kitty’s cafe and stand in front of the oven and hit X button (at least on my steam deck). Whatever button you should press should show on bottom right action.

no i know how to use the oven, i can bake the pineapple cake but i don't have the apple pie recipe like i should have

you only get the recipe after you make the pie i think, you just make it with 1 apple and 1 flour
it says its a mystery but i got the pie anyway and was able to turn in the quest without any issues

I got stuck on this part too. I found an apple on a tree in the maze near Kuromi, in the spooky forest. Then using the apple for a mystery bake gave an apple pie, the apple pie recipe, and completed the quest.

okay so i went back to the spooky swamp and found another apple (even tho i already had some in my inventory before starting the quest) and then i was able to craft the apple pie :)
