How do you put food on tables?

This maybe a dumb question but honestly i can't figure how to put food, sweets on tables. I saw it im some pictures and i want to know how to do that, i dont like to put in the floor.

You put food on tables by walking up to them, a button depicting a hand should appear upon pressing it you can choose what you want to put on the table. I took longer than I should have figuring that out too

Originally I didn't think you could even put food on tables because i figured it would be done in the menu where you place furniture down.
