Can Polaris be unlocked without Magneto?

Several times during the game, it says I need magnetic powers for object Q.
I checked to see who had magnetic powers and Polaris is the one I want.

But all the notes I read say you have to unlock Magneto to get Polaris.
Which seems wrong to me, I am trying to get Polaris precisely so I don't have to unlock Magneto!

Is there a way to avoid unlocking Magneto and acquire Polaris?

to unlock polaris you have to play the deadpool side mission "the thrill of chess"

1. There are so many characters to unlock in Lego games, it makes it simpler to find the ones I like if the ones I don't aren't unlocked.

2. I don't like to play villians.

3. I really don't like Magneto.

4. It's a common design failing that Lego Games are designed to force you to use a specific character for the sake of a getting past a puzzle.
I really don't like have to swap characters I like for ones I do not all the time.

And yes, I know the mission required, but it can't be started without using magnetic powers to open the door.
