Failed Marketing?
The only reason i know this game exists was a random X post. Does SE want this game to fail? A new Mana game should be plastered all over the net, but all I hear about is Concord and Wukong

nope, this game originally developed by ouka studios which owned by Netease. Netease currently scale back their game developing in japan which including marketing after game finished. if Sony would look back into develop games in japan instead of throwing money to make games like Concord

Marketing is the responsibility of the publisher, not the developer. A lack of marketing falls on Square, not Ouka or Netease.

With the closure of Ouka by NetEase just 1 day after VoM release Square Enix must be really thinking hard before acting for the next statements about Visions of Mana.
Ouka made a great work with this episode but now they're closed, who's going to propose ANOTHER ONE ? I think right now people are fuming with a bit of anger at SE offices.

I constantly saw ads for visions of mana on tiktok, especially the one the told me there was a demo. That's how I found out about the demo.

Nothing is allowed to be more successful than Final Fantasy.

Square Enix has been ran terribly and mismanaged for decades, so this isn't something new. If they didn't have Final Fantasy XIV, I honestly think they would have imploded from all of their awful decision making by now.

They will stay afloat as long as they can fleece their fans with yet another FF7-adjacent prequel/midquel/sidequel/reboot.
Sure it's a classic, but it seems some people have imprinted on the original game like ducks, and it's both sad and funny seeing Square squeeze this cow for all its worth (and beyond).

They've been pretty open about making more money from their mobile titles than any other projects and don't care how well they do

I know it's easy to think "I haven't personally seen much marketing for this game, therefore they didn't market it", but come on, seriously, look around a little before making a topic about it.

They've been releasing trailers through official channels on YouTube and TikTok, they've got multiple accounts promoting advertisements on Twitter, they've had Sony promote trailers through their official channels, they had an actual TV commercial in Japan, and who actually watches broadcast TV any more? There have been multiple developer interviews, articles in magazines, and they released and advertised a demo for both PlayStation and PC. They sent pre-release copies to multiple reviewers and multiple big publications had reviews up on launch day. What else were you expecting them to do?

And like, on launch day, it was in the top 5 sellers on Amazon US and JP and the top 10 on Steam. It's still the #2 top selling PS5 game on Amazon JP. All signs seem to indicate that it's not a smash hit, but it's doing pretty well, despite what the trolls on the Steam forums think.

Seems like they did a good job in Japan, I saw a short on YT where they did some sort of VR advertising on the big streets.

Everywhere else, yeah, they completely fumbled it.

Was about to buy some random game and was looking through the new releases, then this came up in my recommended list, and as someone who loved Secret of Mana back in the day I had to get it, otherwise I would have totally missed it.
