As somebody who's been playing games since I was a kid in the 80's, I'm enjoying this quite a bit. The aesthetics and the tone of the story are definitely a throwback to classic JRPGs, Secret of Mana being the most obvious example, and the combat is pretty easy on normal mode, so you can just mash buttons to get through combat without much trouble. (but hard mode is harder, if you prefer that)
As an old Secret of Mana/SD3 fan yes its perfectly playable for me
This game's narrative believes in tell, don't show. People aren't trolls just because you don't agree with them. Maybe that's why all you kids do is argue on here.
Enjoy
From a technical standpoint: it looks absolutely fantastic. The amount of love they put into each of the main characters and the world itself is insane. Whether or not you're into the style: I'm not sure I've seen a game that literally oozes art direction better than this one.
This feels like they poured over Secret of Mana 1 (and 2), and then put painstaking effort into trying to bring those worlds into a modern 3D vision. It worked.
The writing and voice acting is mostly passable - it's not going to win awards, but there is some legitimately good writing sprinkled throughout. Some of the story beats were legitimately darker and deeper than I would have expected.
The combat is really tight, it's flashy and fast paced - with most battles taking place in under 1min. Each character and class feels unique enough to warrant cycling through them. You won't find the depth of a "Tales of" game here, but it's close.
World traversal feels great as well. Platforming elements feel really good, and the double jump and infinite (no stamina) dash/air-dash being unlocked from the beginning is fantastic.
If I'm being honest, the 'cute' level is a bit more than I can usually handle - but this game has enough going on that it's worth trying out.
Unless you mean a protagonist closer to our age? /shrug
