Thanks to the very basic tutorial, I have no idea how to play this game. It also seems to pretend it is a dungeon crawler when it is really just an oddly executed tower defense game. Pick a lane.

Dungeon of the Endless falls under that Neutral Review category you see people talk about on Steam.
It's a great game with a beautiful aesthetic, interesting rougelike gameplay loop and a variety of characters to start your runs with HOWEVER, it lacks a welcoming new player experience or any tutorial which may completely ruin your experience straight off the bat.

To elaborate, All the information needed is available to you in game via hover over tabs & information boxes but its not clear when you first start playing and you'll end up googling some things which simply shouldn't be the case less than 10 minutes into a new game. Trial and Error learning will play a large factor when playing & understanding the game as is the case with most rogue likes but simple & important information when starting a new game is not clearly conveyed or shown.

Overall if you're into roguelikes and especially some difficult ones, or enjoy the tower defence genre and you want a mix of the two, Dungeon of the Endless is worth checking out when it goes on sale, as it drops to a decent price. That being said if the above information about lack of direction & new player guidance sounds negative to you, i'd avoid the title.

The RNG part is acceptable and your win or loss run is not so much affected by it. Your skills and team management will lead you to victory more than luck

Loved this game omg

It's a hard game but not fun. I've completed my fare share of "hard" games but this one is really not that fun. It's just frustrating.

It even has a mechanic where a team member will randomly kill his/her teammate on the loading screen. That's just absurd. You can think up a winning strategy all you want but then this random team member will kill one of your teammate then poof all progress gone; run ruined. You don't even recover the items that the member is carrying.

Just skip this one if you don't like frustrating random mechanics.

Imagine a tower defence rogue-like game where you need to use both your characters and statinoary weapons to defend your "life source".
Now imagine that you have NPCs selling weapons, armours and buffing items.

Imagine that you have to manage your scarce resources to survive.
Oh, and you have to discover rooms filled with monsters, upgrade modules, new characters in which could synergize with the others characters you eventually have.

All of that with a resource gathering mechanism similar to "Settlers of Catan" board game.

This, all of this, is Dungeons of the Endless.

Great game, fun concepts, lore, characters, weapons, abilities, equipment, etc.

I ended up buying all the DLC because the game is so enjoyable. The second one is better imo, but both are great!
