Mechanical Pal
I was noticing that the mechanical pal only provides +1 to the resource of the module it is working, regardless of level. I had mine at L3, and it still only provided +1.

Or maybe I've got my math all wrong here?

I also noticed that when I boost Josh's Wit over 17, no additional bonus occurred.

Is this a bug, or do I have everything wrong? :D

The bonus to ressources is (normally) wit/2, rounded up. So yeah, this isn't really normal, a level 3 buddy should give you +2.

I'm going to look again to make sure all of my observations were correct. Thanks for the info.

Mechanical Pal provides +1, +1.5, +2, +2.5 Wit. Not Resource.

I haven't found them as useful as I'd expect them to be. Maybe I'm just using them wrong? Anyone out there have a best practice for these little guys?

In my experience, they go best with a Power Generator and a manned Shop, to up the dust income without having to spare any operators from the party. This is especially true of the Shop: it takes 20 wit to get a bonus above +1 dust/turn. Also, given that each one won't improve resource gathering more than +1 or +2 (depending upon mechanical pal level), these little guys provide profit if you open every door on later levels when built early. For resources, you have to think long term investment: build early in level, clear all rooms for maximum profit.
I use these guys all the time by the 8th floor and onwards.

I don't find them worthwhile at all. I could see the fringe case where you've got a shop out of the way with an early merchant and a free module slot, but even that is 40 industry starting cost. They're too expensive in both research and build costs, and sacrificing a potentially useful minor module slot along your defensive line is too much of a trade-off for their middling returns. Maybe if they only cost 5 industry apiece and were cheaper to research, I'd bite...
