Give up, I cant play it
gonna make it short. bought it lastnight, installed, verified the game cache and updates were good. Started it and crashes after you watch the career video. i switched it to win98 like everyone says. drivers updated. ran in windowed mode with low and high settings to see if either would work, no good. I've always been a big fan of this game and will continue to be. Im just stuck with playing it on my ps3.

IMO
You're not missing much at all.
This game 5/10 is only just better than Shi*t2 which is lucky to score a lousy 3/10
The further back in time you go with NFS, the better the game.
Very disappointing.

yeah it will crash a few times. is no real issues. It's happening when the game is writing the savedgame location info!. happens to me when I alter settings. keep backup of your game save for future also. less crashes. I just reinstalled my game and notice game servers are down. idk. I played online last time I played

Not true dude. This need for speed shift is so different compared to other need for speed games. Lemans racing. this NFS shift is like a simulator racing. feels good driving.

just keep re launching the game. it is writing to the pc small areas needed that is crashing it. you are fine. just reload gae few more times.

I have a weird fix here.
When I launch nfs shift, it start loading but crashes ALL the time. so her'e my bizzare fix.
Start game.
When it crashes, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete to open Task manager.
In the Process tab, find and select SHIFT.exe then click Stop Task.
Start needForSpeed Shift again.
It's supposed to work,

I just tried it and i wanted it to work so badly but its no good for me. I really appreciate ur advice and input to help me try and play one of my favorite games on pc.

its so bizarre because after "another" install i leave it alone with graphics settings and i click start career, it shows the video and when it starts loading the test lap it crashes.

Couldn't disagree more. I thought this was an excellent game. Racing in a tier3+ car in cockpit view is exhilarating to say the least.

Sorry to hear game isn't working. for many games will crash on 1st launches or even when ingame anda video plays. yes this need for speed shift crashes alot. but after all those crashese finish writing where is needed. no more crashes. It could also be your PC not able run the game well. Battefield Bad company 2 always crashed on me till i ran it a few times. than no more. :medicon: I can't play shift online or login to EA at moment through steam anymore either. Says my client isout of date. ggrrhh

Corsair vengence ram 8 gb at 1866mhz
MSI geforce gtx 760 4gb card
Windows 7 64-bit
My rig is more then capable of running shift. I have an hour of playtime logged in because ive restarted the game 20 times or more. Idk anymore.

As much as we like to thinks our overclocks are good sometimes they're not.

If you dig through the net you should find that NFS Shift doesn't like overclocks.

Ps, I play on x4 965BE 3.7 / NBfreq 2400mhz, 6870s xfire with win98 compatibility rock solid stable.
