I found the place to click activate and did so. But the option to activate is still there when I come back. Is it just that way, or is something wrong?
supposedly i should have grappling hooks and night vision with special forces, but i dont see it available when im playing. Is it a server thing? How can I tell which servers are running it?
thanks

Battlefield 2: Special Forces
Method 1:
- Launch Battlefield 2 and log in using your Battlefield 2 account.
- Once in the Battlefield 2 main menu, click the Community button at the top, then click the Custom Games button underneath it.
- Click the item labeled xPack Battlefield 2: Special Forces and click Activate, and accept the restart
Once the game has restarted, you should be able to access Battlefield 2: Special Forces content.
Method 2:
Add the +modPath mods/xpack launch option to Battlefield 2. This is done in your steam library.
- Right click Battlefield 2 game in steam library > properties > General Tab > Set launch options.
- Type or paste: +modPath mods/xpack
- Restart the game.

Method 2 worked for me. Method 1 did not. In multiplayer select "same mod" and a green 2 (not red) will show next to the servers running Special Forces. It appears that few humans play Special Forces unfortunately.
To get night vision (on night maps) press 7. Gas mask is 8. grappling hooks or ziplines will usually be 6. Press E to get on and off a zipline or grappling hook. G to pick it back up when you are done.
The Euro Forces and Armored Fury expansions are essentially maps already integrated with normal Battlefield 2. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.) You may have to upgrade to version 1.5+ if you have not already done so (It was automatic for me). If you can play the following maps, then you have the expansion.
Euro Forces
- Great Wall
- Operation Smokescreen
- Taraba Quarry
Armored Fury
- Midnight Sun
- Operation Harvest
- Operation Road Rage
