Is Punkbuster kicking you? Read this guide.
Guide is here:

NOTE: If my guide doesn't work, then checkk to see if your Punkbuster is even installed.

It keep stelling me I'm missing "pbag". Whatever the hell that is, why would it want a bag of pee?

PBag is basically the package that is used to communicate between your client and Punkbuster. If you do not have "PBag", or something is blocking it (such as a firewall), then you will be kicked.
Manually updating your punkbuster can fix this problem. (Link is in the second fix of my guide.)
Allowing a program called "pbsvc" in your firwall can also help.

Ok, so here's MY problem. I was getting the update error a couple days ago, so I updated my punkbuster. Somewhere in between PB was uninstalled or seomthing, becaue now I'm getting the service communication error. I've downloaded pbsetup from the evenbalance website, and I've manually updated it, but it doesn't appear in my task manager, uninstall programs menu, or in the services.msc list. Correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't the pbsetup install PB, or is that only a manual update tool?

It can both install and update your Punkbuster.
When you open up "Pbsetup", go to add a game, and selct battlefield 2. If I remember correctly, it should be automatically checking for updates. If not, then click on the "Update Punkbuster" tab.

I updated punkbuster, but now it seems it has issues with a "MD5" or something or other mismatch. This blows.

yeah, I did all that stuff, and it still doesn't install or whatever. will uninstalling and reinstalling BF2 maybe fix this problem?

When do you get this message? After you're getting kicked from the game?
.md5 files are programs that help your files not become corrupt. Are you sure you allowed "pbsvc' through your firewall?
EDIT: I did some research, mismatches are when you fail to connect to the actual server. have you tried connecting to different servers?

no, it will not. This is not an issue with BF2, this is an issue with Punkbuster. have you allowed "pbsvc" to communicate through your firewall?
I cannot help you unless if you tell me what the message is.

I figured as much. The message is: "restriction: service communication error: pnkbstra.exe
I also noticed that when I add bf2 to the pb, it doesn't show up again when I run pbsetup.

So when you open up PBsetup, Battlefield 2 doesn't stay in the list even though you've added it previously, am I correct? That shouldn't be much of a concern.
Now for your Pnkbstra.exe, I remember that being disabled in my firewall for some reason, and all I had to do was allow it again.
If that doesn't work, then go to your Control Panel > Admin. tools > Services, and in the list of programs double tap "Pnkbstra", and on the window that opens up, look for "Startup type" in your general tab. Click on the arrow, and select "Automatic."

I followed those steps, but pnkbstra is not showing up on that list.

I see what the problem is, Punkbuster is not installed!
Run the installer here, then update it with pbsetup, which is probably the reason why BF2 won't stay on the list.
E:\Program Files\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\PunkBuster

What seems to be the issue?
TheRainKing1979 Dec 23, 2013 @ 8:56pm
What seems to be the issue?

CS gave me an error that it had a problem runing in OpenGL, so now it runs in sofware mode, and when I run CS, the rez is all huge, and I can revert it.

Simple enough.
Goto your launch options (CS:CZ > Properties > Launch Options) and copy and paste this in: "-w 1280 -h 768" w/o quotes.
