I think also shutting down the gamespy service is one reason why they decided to shut down the online play functionality.

If you search in the Battlelog.co forums, there are tons of threads and advice to enable to play BF2 on Windows 10. If you cant find your answer, just post in the forums and the mods and community are very proactive and helpful to help you fix your specific problem.

Best way is to look into a direct x fix, you do not need to install custom registries you need to get an older version of direct x, eventually you will get results. Hope this helps :)
