Have you tried running it on compatibility mode?

It went black here as well, but started after a minute or two. Have you left it on or just force closed it after some time?

I forced closed it, I will try to let it load, and yes I ran it in compatibilty mode

It works on 10 you just have to wait a while for it to load up. Mine goes black too but if you wait it will load up. My only problem is I cant play online, but I know its possible because I have found lists of servers, just no way to login or connect to them.

Works fine without problem on mine. Windows 10 Home. Must be problem on your end. Maybe you just need to wait, Battlefield 2 is quite old.

On June 30, 2014, EA shut down the online play functionality, citing low player counts. The game can still be played online by using one of these providers: GameRanger (via official endorsement by EA) or community solutions which offer stat-tracking and recovery (unlike GameRanger) such as Revive BF2 or BF2Hub.
I think also shutting down the gamespy service is one reason why they decided to shut down the online play functionality.

I use the Steam version of BF2 on Windows 10, and play online on the biggest BF2 community network at: {LINK REMOVED}
If you search in the Battlelog.co forums, there are tons of threads and advice to enable to play BF2 on Windows 10. If you cant find your answer, just post in the forums and the mods and community are very proactive and helpful to help you fix your specific problem.

yea,it does that,screen is black long enough for one to panic then it starts right up,it works fine just takes a bit to fire up.
and if you get a error that you need directx 9.0?
ddanjovi Aug 30, 2016 @ 7:10am
If your still having issues, guranteed it will be direct X error, the game runs on Direct X 9 and I have had a black screen issue to desktop error on Windows 7 64 bit.
Best way is to look into a direct x fix, you do not need to install custom registries you need to get an older version of direct x, eventually you will get results. Hope this helps :)

Sometimes you just need to wait like up to 2 minutes for it to load.

what version of windows 10 do you have unless you have 1607 the game will have some problems as the game correction detection in windows 10 in previous editions the auto correct isnt in windows 10 on the latest windows 10 1607 the auto correct is so anything before this version will have problems
Coffeecup Apr 4, 2017 @ 6:43am
I have Windows 10 version 1607 and the versions before as well before this, which worked nicely - lucky for me. There are a lot of discussions and different solutions you can try about black screen and othrr problems here:

You can post in these forums and someone may help you out or point you to some solved threads to try if it works for you (some of the solutions for BF2142 do work for BF2 as well):
