How on earth do I play LAN with this game?

The "connect to IP" button doesn't work so I can only play single player, which is definately not why I wanted this game...

I've done this with my brother in the past, so it is possible.

1) One person be the host
2) Launch BF2
3) Go into Multiplayer
4) Create a Server
5) Pick all the settings that you like
6) Other party launches and go into MP and your server should show up in the server list, if not, refresh the server list.

Yes, I have tried that, all firewalls were off, as was the internet because it was a lan party, I'm assuming that gamespy doesn't do anything anymore anway because of its downfall... Are there online servers we can connect to?

Gamespy doesn't do anything, sadly. But, there is an online community called Battlelog.co, go there and ask the community, they should be able to assist you.

Yeah, Battlelog.co is the best solution for Online playing :)

I installed this BF2Hub one this year and think not working for me.Like i had reinstalled by BF2 last year or this year,i forget now first and played some singleplayer,no servers showed up,with the whole gamespay thing etc...

But yea need to check the game and hub again to be surer work or not,and having two places for the game wont hurt.I tried the battlelog one,like tried to login,as thought maybe joined before,but looks like i did not.The thing is old accounts dont count right and your stats etc..,you make a new name and also stats start all over again right or not?.

You can use your old account on battlelog.co, and continue from there. But if any problems, there are many proactive mods and community members who will be very happy to help you out if you post your problem in the forums.

I did not seem to have ann account there,so registered one and downloading the game again in different folder and the launcher thing too.Like have BF2 on laptop already(the one that had SF and amour,Euro...),but some problems on and off so may use the site one, and see how it works, if better?.

thanks for the online help, but I still don't understand why I can't connect directly to IP... doesn't really make sense, but I'll ask battlelog nevertheless, thanks again.

If you already have the game, you would only need to download the launcher - anyway the mods/community in the forums will help to solve your problem if you post your problem there :)
