Battlefield 2

A download for the last version of the Revive client
Here's a download of the latest Revive front-end client and patcher. The Revive front-end installer and patcher doesn't include any Battlefield games, and doesn't have the functionality to download the Revive-patched game, but it will apply the Revive patches to a copy of the game that you already have installed on your PC:

You might wonder: Since the Revive network is gone and so Revive-patched games aren't playble online anymore, what is the point of sharing it?

Revive shut down last year. But, from what I understand, they made a lot of bug patches to the game without changing its gameplay.

Should anyone or any group out there decide they want to and have the resources to be able to host their own Battlefield server services, the patch work contained in the Revive front-end and patcher could be very helpful.

Also, it would be a shame if all that work and effort was lost.

The only infringing thing that Revive was doing was distributing a cracked version of Battlefield 2 for download. Revive could have pulled that download from their website and servers and then offered their online service as a patch to be applied to a pre-existing Battlefield installation, just like Battlefield 2 Hub does and is still doing. However, Revive chose to close their service instead of offering it as a patch to be applied to existing copies of classic Battlefield games.

So, here is the last version of the installer for the Revive front-end and patcher.

I dont think there's anything to revive anymore dude. Only american server that's relevant this days in weekend warrior to be honest and it doesn't go higher than 24 players. Anyway why bother when people got BF2hub, let it go. unsubed

You didn't read the OP and so you responded without understanding the point of offering the Revive client. It has nothing to do with Revive coming back, or anticipation that it will.

The Revive Bf2 game patcher applies bug fixes that the Revive team made that DICE never applied to the official release of the game. And so, the Revive client's value is that someone else either current or at any time in the future working on a Bf2 server hosting project could incorporate those fixes into their own version with minimal work.

You weren't subbed to this thread before posting anyway, so I don't know why you'd need to unsub. You'll get a Steam notification for the thread because I'm quoting you.

I haven't personally tried PlayBF2, but in this video it looks like there are a bunch of servers:

The questions are, how many of them have players, and are there any close to where you live? By the way, there are English subtitles for the video that can be turned on.

Battlefield 2 Hub has a modest amount of players, and not quite as many servers as Revive had. It might be enough, though when I log in during the middle of the night (2 - 4 AM) in North America the only servers with a good amount of players seem to be located in China, or playing a Strike at Karkand-only server.

It seems logical that there would be a lot more people playing in servers for my region during the day, though.

Patching to something that BF2Hub won't recognize would kill the last of multiplayer.

The Revive stuff contains the work that team made to improve the game. It could be useful to somebody who wants to make a new project out of it, or apply it to an existing on.

But it wouldn't make sense to install the Revive patch if wanting to play on Bf2 Hub because Bf2 Hub requires its own patch. I didn't suggest trying to use Revive with Bf2 Hub.
