It’s becoming a joke at this point. I can’t even be bothered to wait the full 3 year period. I can’t make it to next April. Just pay to get out of the contract early or something, Square Enix.

You’ll make your money back in spades by having one of the most beloved series in gaming on Steam, a platform that people actually use.

This so much... I'm absolutely devastated by the fact that it's still not on Steam, I would really love for KH to be here.

"Just pay to get out of the contract early or something, Square Enix." You know, at this point I wonder if there's really still any contract.

The reason why I think this is because Tony Hawk 1+2 was the other game that never came steam, until a month ago after more than 3 years, and the reason it finally came to steam is most likely because Microsoft bought activision, it can't be a coincidence that it happened at the same time.

With that it mind, it sounds like the game (tony hawk) could have been ported to steam already, maybe the contract was over for a long time, but activision just somehow didn't care and it needed for microsoft to own the franchise to do something about it.

It could be the same with Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix are always really weird with their decisions, maybe they can put it on steam right now, but they don't do it for whatever reason we can't think about.

Also what I believe. Once Square Enix needs cash for a better "fiscal year" they'll shadow drop it here or announce it with Kingdom Hearts 4 for us to play... Steam Deck verified and all to build more hype.

But at the end of the day: Who cares. EGS exclusive means free for me so take it and play it until it hits Steam. Tim Sweeney already paid for your copy.

Agreed. For example, they release parts of a series, but not whole series. Take a look for example at the Star Ocean series on steam. Some games are on it, while others are missing. The fact also there is only one Dragon Quest game on steam, while the rest of the games are side games also shows this.

You assume square won't screw up the steam version like they do with half their ports anyways and it ends up running like garbage.

Yeah, I also think they'll release all the KH games on Steam before the release of KH4. Maybe they'll bundle it into a Complete Edition with all the games (including the mobile version, maybe they'll remake Union X [Cross] or take the cutscenes).
That would make more sense imo.

I would be happy if the game is available at all outside of the Epic Game Store. I'd even be happy if it was available on GOG. Or would you only buy the games on Steam?

I mean, I guess, but they did the PC release on EGS not too long after KH3 released. So, I guess while they could be waiting for a game that's not going to come out for like 3-4 more years, they could just release teasers and trailers for 4 and release the stuff in EGS jail on Steam to help build the possible player base for a day-1 buy of 4.
