Otherwise, never spend blue crystals on anything but the banners. The point of the banner is to get the costume and getting some of your wishlisted weapons along the way. Expect to spend around 15,000 to 25,000 for costume. Costumes with the Arcanum bonus are must have, they are the best in the game. Some costumes are worth skipping unless you are a whale who just can afford to buy everything.
There's a free chest in the chocobo farm every day, don't forget to open it.
There's a free pack you can buy from the store every day in the "special" category. Don't forget it.
Always buy the gil shop items and clear it out every day, including all refills. It has some great items in there and gil is so plentiful, it won't put a dent in your savings. The only thing that really eats into your savings is the upgrade of weapons and you would have to do a lot of it at one time.
Don't play a crisis dungeon on hard unless you know it isn't required for one of the summon contracts since you will just have to play it again, it's a waste of a ticket. There's one for Ifrit, Shiva and Ramuh. The contract must be ACTIVE for the clear to count.
I would also recommend watching some basics videos from the bigger youtubers playing this game as they explained some mechanics I had no idea about even after a month of playing. Things like Limit break canceling animations of the boss, how R abilities work, C materia slots, how crafting Materia works and how to get the best stats... , how to put together a good wishlist, and much more.
Be sure to buy the buster sword every month in the crisis dungeon medal shop as you only can get one each month and this is the only way to get them. It's a very versatile and powerful sub weapon that works with every character build. It's the only weapon currently that gives HP+ and Attack+
What to buy from the Crisis Shop: The monthy buster sword. The 4 star breach materia, and the 30 Mithril Ore. Don't waste medals on anything else.
Aim for two 5 star copies of a weapon for a wishlist, and then you can focus on others. Weapons get their biggest upgrades after the first overboost from the second copy, and then again after their 6th overboost from the seventh copy. After you reach OB6, you can pretty much chill on that weapon for good, and just be happy if you are lucky enough to get more copies.
