If only.
If I want toplay FF7 ,im playing the original with mods. Also ♥♥♥♥ the remake !
played remake a few hours ... i stopped when i was bored seing Sephiroth showing up at every coner of the streets in flashbacks , when you're not supposed to see him one single time in Midgard in the original. They 've screwed up the whole plot and game i tell you. Square Enix
Ehm... you missed the entire point then?
Yeah thats why the developer said it was a REMAKE and not a remaster like all the other suposed "remakes" out there.
It's pretty much this, but it's the only present way to experience the story from the defunct First Soldier game, and rumored to be incorporating other tales from the FFVII story that didn't make it to mainstream. Basically you're a die-hard or a try-hard. If you aren't one of those two, this game is not for you.
It's basically a re-cap that skips entire narrative parts (like for example: Cloud in FF VII jumping to the train when surrounded by Shinra soldiers after the Mako reactor segment) for each main game of the series:
-FF VII (og is also avaiable on Steam)
-Crisis Core (avaiable with the "Reunion" remaster on Steam)
-Advent Children (movie)
-Dirge of Cerberus (PS2)
+ two games that are unavaiable nowadays: Before Crisis and The First Soldier (battle royale that already died out its live service).
This game will be mainly worth for those two latter ones since they'll basically preserve those, in some sort of sense, with this gacha.
Oh, speaking of which: the gacha part is mainly about getting powerful weapons and skins. So be ready to spend and login A LOT if you want those. Or, in case, be ready to spend real money if you want something so desperately or most of it.
My suggestion is: play all those original games before, still.
What Square Enix is doing is basically playing a "reminescent" effect old-school players (they're doing the same on the onn-going Remake trilogy) while adding few extras scenes (until now that's the impression I got from this game until now with the FF VII and Crisis Core part).

Yup .. this is it. Good call.
It takes FOREVER to power up your characters and the Materia system is pure ♥♥♥♥.
