Has anyone find out how to use Buckets? I crafted a couple of them, but cant manage to place them or force dwarfes to use them to collect water?! Any hints?

You make the buckets first (as you mentioned you have) which should then allow you to click an area of water (much like anything else) as an order to have it picked up. It will overlay a bucket icon (vs a pick, etc). In fact, I end up demonstrating this in the following video...

LoL. They produce water cubes? ^^

Aye ... and if you collect water from a lake, the water cubes fall to the ground of the lake and your dwarves might have to swim and dive in order to collect them :D

The cubes are not stable!? Some of them fell down a tunnel.. maybe 4-5 tiles. As they touched the ground they got re-transformed to normal water.. xD

You need buckets for things like buckets of worms for fishing

1 Bucket = 1 Water Cube
25 Buckets = 25 Water Cubes

The more the buckets, the more water cubes you can "gather" before needing to stash. If an area is flooded, having more buckets will enable you to gather-gather-gather (to make the water level drop fast) before having to collect/stash them, otherwise, you'd see your dwarf waiting for the mules to return.

Suck there is NO option to "flood an area" using Buckets of Water. Makes a great method for killing the ants (extremely useful in nightmare permadeath mode)

I figured out my problem. I was trying to click the bucket in my hotbar then click the water, but I was actually needing only to clicking the water.
