Ice world. How to craft water?

In recipe of ice is noted that it can be transformed to water. How to do it?

Just put an ice on a underground wall, after a few seconds, it will become water and drop. So remember to build a stone pool under it first..

It is strange : i had a big space i wanted to turn into a pool, so i constructed it like in the picture.

This is a former open air space, but still i turned it into a cave : why does not the ice melt into water ?

I had the same setting in a near narrow natural cave and it worked.

That place is not deep enough for melting. You should move that pool to downward further.

It's also a bit slow but if you create a deep pool open to the sky the snow falling down will melt into water by itself.
However using ice is much faster.
