How do you build a shelter?
Im playing the iPhone version so while its almost exactly like this version, it's basically just touch screen... Anyway, I made my house. I got the quest completion... Totem is red. There's some stars that go around and apparently that's my house which is way bigger then it should be. So I try to fill it all on. It turns yellow. Fill more in. Back to red. I have no clue of how to do it :/ any advice?

Your shelter needs to be completly walled in; no holes to the outside world anywhere. Including background walls/3rd dimension. If you want your dwarves to go in or out you put in doors or hatches.
If your house is so big that the area of influence of the totem is smaller that the house; no problem regarding the house per se, but you might have trouble with monsters spawning inside your house (place more totems inside your house to fix that).

My problem is that I have all of that... Yet the game seems to think I don't anymore. The light on the totem is red. And the 'stars' are WAY bigger then what my house is.

Can you show us a screenshot? Do you see one big red star somewhere in your home? If "yes", it means that in your home there is some kind of hole and you should fix it.

I could try Imugr I suppose... But no there are no red stars.

Try closing/opening hatches, there is a bug with hatches but dont know if it was carried over to mobile version.

Well, orange totem this is almost fine indicator. Then, destroy mushrooms and add more light in your home like torch.

Ok so... It now shows orange.... But I still can't craft anything house related. Do I need torches?

Ok so.... I think my problem was that I just hadn't unlocked house drafting yet... Sorry about this guys. But why isn't my totem green?

You have to progress into the tech tree to be able to craft more items. At the beginning you can basically craft a few torches, ladders and then the bed of leaves. How far are you in the tech tree?

As you make more items for the comfort rating it will eventually go green.

Hmm... Now it's alternating between red and yellow. So... If it stays red, no house. If it's red/yellow, yellow, or green, that determines the comfort level? Awesome. Thanks a lot :D

Red can mean you are borderline. Hover over the totem to see what percent it says. As long as it has a percent and does not say house walls broken you are ok, it just means you have very low comfort rating.

The confort is determined by the luxury item compared to the size of the house, and the result divided by the amount of bed you got.

The biggest the base, the harder to reach high confort, same for bed. (even empty bed count)
