Portal finished, but can't use it, any ideas?
Hi all, I've run into an issue that I can't seem to resolve. I built all the portal pieces and low and behold there is a portal there .. woot! But I can't click on the exit sign. There are vines there that I can't seem to get rid of. The portal click box seems to be on top of it but yet when I click on the exit sign, nothing happens. Any ideas?

Edit: In addition, I had put scaffolding up so that the dwarves could get to stuff up top on the left side, I can't remove the scaffolding. can't dig out the floor under it because of the portal.. so there I am.. scaffolding up on one side I can't remove and can't use the portal cause of the vines. it seems nothing around the portal can be manipulated at all due to this invisible box on top of the portal. There HAS to be a better way of getting this done.

try the magic explosion spell as close to the portal as possible

That is a good idea and also make sure this is not a custome world; the portal only works in campaign mode.

Thanks for the suggestions.. will try that. On a side note to ehyder's comment. Why on earth would it not work in custom world? it makes no sense at all...!! Is it by design? Basically if you give the world a specific size etc.. you are penalized with no going forward and making the game a huge dead end? not fussing at you, I'm just discussing it. would love to know why they chose that limitation when there is no benefit that I can see.. only punishment

If you choose custon - where are you going to go - back to the main menu? It only works ion campaign mode. You can still do achievements in custom but has no end game other than finishing the portal.

aaah okay thank you for your time in answering. I'm just not sure how having a larger map, for example, would auto opt you out of further content. it really doesn't make sense to me.. but maybe it is just because I don't know all the game ahead. thanks again for the answers

Try campaign then and you will see the difference - not much other than having a crafting tree to follow and then the portal to the next world.

here is the kicker.. when I started my first game. I looked at hte settings for campaign.. then I looked at the custom defaults.. same thing.. but...the game penalizes you for doing custom with the same settings? sorry I'm a tester at heart.. glad to know there isn't much difference but a whole world to be penalized for a bigger map or whatever difficulty? I get what you are saying but it just makes no sense to me. if there isn't much difference then why segretate it's features when campaign is on easiest settings. This is more for the devs than anything else.

1st world is easy so you can learn mechanics of game. Next 2 worlds are at normal.

The sandbox mode is more for people just to build without any goals.

gotcha... makes sense.. thanks

I would imagine there's no 'portal' in custom games, because it's just as easy to start a new game in a new slot with newer/(harder?) settings once you feel like you've progressed / challenged yourself on that map and are ready for the next one. You're free to choose ANY world type you want for your first custom game... and having the portal requirement would limit that freedom.

Custom ramps up the difficulty as much or as little as you like via your own settings.

Campaign ramps up based on a specfic parameters spread out over all three worlds. :sphere:
