Beating the first world on campaign
do you have to achieve the following in order to complete the first world? (i will spoiler hide it just in case)

Do you need to research every "tech/part of the tree" in order to get mithril weapons to be able to defeat the Guardians and obtain portal parts?

I feel like ive been playing the level for ever (20hrs) and kinda running out of resources.

Apologies if very noob question

You can defeat the guardians also earlier with silver and gold armor (it is only harder). but the problem is you get the quest for the portal only realy late int the tech tree (i think it is gold or mithril things).

ah ok, so u have to kinda grind away the techs?
Gim Dec 3, 2014 @ 1:25pm
Yes. I find it borring too and all only to get to the second world where you start all over again. Not realy a good gameplay. If you are looking for a better game you can try Wiggles. It is realy a nice dwarf game with a good story, tech tree, quests and sense of humor. Sadly it is a little bit older so the grphic it not the best and you should save the game often because of crashes (with time it becomes realy CPU hungry).

aye, hugs, its a shame, i kinda like the play in ctw but having to get all the techs, not just choosing your path seems so very grindy. thanks for replying gim :)

you can save up some coins and buy those ingridients needed for gates. I think you will need 5 mithril ingnots and gold . Maybe some crystal but those mostly fall of guardians. I did go thoguth whole tech and relise I can spend coins on this stuff a bit to later but at least you can do it :)

I beat the guardians with Iron or Steel weapons although it took a few runs. But then i realized I was missing gold ad mithril bars. Idid buy them for coins but next time I'm not going to bother with the portal untill I get the ability to craft gold bars at least.

aye im enjoying it otherwise, just think id prefer if u could follow a path down the craft trees rather than have to unlock all

Thanks for lifting this. I was on the fence but I'll pass for the time being.
Spending 20h for beating the first level, after unlocking everything, and do it all again on the next level seems a bit too tedious. Maybe split it up a bit?
Level 1: use the first techs and complete it.
Level 2: need to unlock tier 2-stuff to beat it.
Etc etc... old formula that works well. Having to research every tier to complete the first level on such a slow game is bound to make people not wanting to continue with the 2nd level. :/

i may just be bad at the game ulcerus - i am enjoying it, hence the 20 hrs, and do play quite casual ie coffee or wine breaks etc etc - but have to say the crafting tree seems a bit wrong, other than that it meets my 2d crafting needs...there is a custom game which i think allows u to craft anything without a tree (i believe - never tried it if someone could confirm) - but u need to remember the recipes ala minecraft etc. or use a wiki of course

Haha! Well, maybe :D I wouldn't know. But still though, having to unlock everything on the first level seems like a long grind. I've searched around on the web and it seems to be *a lot* to unlock.. Now don't get me wrong. Crafting and exploring is a combination that usually works very good with me. Maybe I'm just thinking about it the wrong way. You know, usually the first level is the "tutorial" where you ease into the game and try a few mechanics and as the game progresses you get to learn more complex recipes and such.
Maybe that's not the way to think about it here.
But it still sounds like you craft a lot of stuff just because the game tells you to. Not because you need or want to use the ítems crafted. And if that's the case, imo the game kind of fails. Crafting should be fun or needed for natural reasons - not feeling like a chore.

I'm gonna keep this in my wishlist for now though. Seems like a good game otherwise. :)

have to admit ulcerus, as a new player, i have to agree with your comments, and feel the same. i got it in sale for about £5, and its been worth that, but couldnt recommend full price really. i hate having to craft random furniture that i dont use just to level thru the tiers..... but otherwise, the game itself is good

You can disassemble the items that you do not need...
Gim Dec 5, 2014 @ 2:43am
The problem is that you dont get all resources back through the disassemling and in addition it is costing you time. You have to build thinks you dont want and that feels king of wrong.
stan Dec 5, 2014 @ 9:39am
ah i didnt know you could dismantle.... how does that work?
Gim Dec 5, 2014 @ 11:14am
you simple drag and drop the item in the field benear the amboss (the field from which you get the item if you build one). Then you glick at the crafting button.
